Every one will admit that onr preparation is worthy of its name, for the be netts it confers when it is known• WHAT THE WIAWATHA DOES. It restores faded and gray hair and whiskers to their Original color. It brings np the natural shading of one bair with another, thus giving the hair a perfect - life appearance, so that the most critical observer cannot detect its use. It makes harsh hair soft and silky, stops its falling out, cleanses it and the scalp from all impu rities, is as readily applied and wiped from the skin as any hair dressing, and entirely overcomes the bad ef fects of previous use of preparations containing sulphur, :sugar of lead, arc. • The proprietors of the Hiawatha published the fol lowing challenge to test in the New York dailies three weeks, which • - WAS :TETER ACCEPTED Let some well known and disinterested persons ap .-?eint one to the proprietor of each preparation for the to bring up the color. TEAL FAIR FOR THE SANITARY COMMIS- Sl ON—PIIILADELPHTA, VW CHESTNUT STREF.T, March, 1804.—The Committee on Finance and Donations of the Great Central Fair appeal liifcontributions in MONEY to those of their follow-citizens who do not propose sending to the Fair the products of their skill and indus try. By far the larger portion of the money received on the occasion of the Fairs held for the benefit of the Sani tary Coldmission in Cincinnati, Boston, and Brooklyn, was derived from direct donations in CASH, and not from the proceeds of tine sale of articles exposed. What the Sanitary Commission needs to afford relief to the sick and wounded soldiers is money, iu large amounts, and from all sources. We call, then, upon all bank ers, corporations, capitalists, per ni sons living upon in- Coes. Professional or oth . erwise: short, upon all who will not be represented iu the Fair by their productions, to imitate the example of those who will, and to con tribute liberally in MONEY for this great object. In New York, although their Fair is not to be hold for two weeks, contributions of more than $200,000 in cash have been already received, a single depimiment of trade, that of dry goods, having made up more than half that sum. Brooklyn and Cincinnati have each contributed as much in money, and certainly the wealth, liberality, and patriotism of Philadelphia can hardly be consul• ered as less conspicuous than that of these communities. Contributions will be thankfully received by any of the members of the Committee. A. E. BORIS, Chairman. S. A. MERCER, SAMUEL WELSH THOMAS SPARKg, A. J. ANTELO, CALEB COPE, JOHN T. INTEREST WILL DE PAID IN COIN, on %ads of not over one hur.died dollars annually, and on all other Bonds semi-alittually. The interest is payable on the first days of igarelr and September in each year. Subscribers will receive either registered or Coupon Bonds, as they may prefer. RegiMered Bonds are re corded on the books of the U. S. Subscribers to this loan will have the•eption of having their Bonds draw interest from March. , let, by paying the accrued interest in coin (or in United'States notes, or the notes of National Banks, adding fifty per cont. for premium), or receive them drawing interest from the date of subscription and deposit. As' these' Bonds are EXEMPT PROM MINIM:PAL OR STATE TAXATION, their value is increased from one to three per cent. nor annum, according to the rate of tax levies la•variona parka of the country. It is believed that no securities offer so great indueez meats to lenders as • the various descriptions of U. Donde. In other forms of indebtedness the faith or ability of private parties, or stuck companies, or sepii= rate. communities, only is pledged for 'payment, while for the debts of tho United States the whole property of the country is holden to secure the payment of both . principal and interest in coin. These Bond's may be subscribed for in sums from $5O up to any enagnitudo, on the same terms, and are time made equally available to the smallest lender and the largest capitalist. They can be converted into money at any moment, and the holder will have the benefit of the interest, It may be useful to state in this connection that the total Funded Debt of the United States on which interest is payable in gold, on the 3d day of March, 1861, was $768,965,000, The interest on this debt for the coming fiscal year will be 445,937,126, while the customs reve nue in gold for the current fiscal year, ending Juno 30th, 1801, has been so far at the rate of over 01011,000,000 per It will be seen that even the present gold revenues of the Government are, largely in excess of the wants of the Treasury for the payment of gold interest, while the recent increase of the tariff will doubtless raise the an nual receipts from customs on the same amount of im portations to $150,600,0Wer annum. Instructions to the Monal. Banks acting as loan agents were not issued until March 26, but the amount of Bonds reported sold at the U. S. Treasury up to May 7th, was 844,616,100.
