STATIONS have been multiplied, each with its chapel and store teats, free writing tab-es, and clothing, com* fo-ls and reading matter for gratuitous distribution VOLUNTARY DELEGATES, in numbers greater than ever before have been sent to preach the Gospel at the station* and in retimenta, batteries, and camps without Chaplains, distribute reading matter and atores, and labor for tbe good o* the Softer* _ A PERMANENT FIELD AGENCY hatbaen sufficiently extended to establish stations and superintend the work. THE BLE&SIUG OF GO D rests signally os all parts of tbe work. Many thousands have been el eared, bene fited and saved. Still a large p«rfc of the Army remains nnresebed, and double the number, both of stations and delegates, aze needed to meet the urgent demand for them. • The Christian Commission offers to the people & per fectly reliable and wonderfully economical channel to reach tbe entire Army in all its various fields. The money given goes in full measure, in benefits for body and soul, directly to the Soldiers, and stores also, imme diately from the hands of delegates from home, who add' words and deeds of kindness to the gifts when bestowed. Let the people give the Money and Stores, and the Work will be done. • • The large Corps of Delegates no win the field will serve as a grand corps of relief when the aimiei shall move and battles be fought, and the'treater their number the more prompt and effective will be the relief they shall render. [From Boston Transcript.] “Kubina is the title of a very remarkable American no vel, ofmore than ordinary excellence, published by James G< Gregory. of New York. The greater portion of the volume is devoted to a vivid representation of the life, suxrout dings, and characters of a New England village. Both the description and the characterization have the closeness to fact of personal observation and experience. Aunt Rhoda is particularly good. The contrast be'* tween the heroine and the people among whom she is placed, and the intense elements of aspiration and paa. sion blended with the rustle aspects of the life she so shrewdly depicts, add a romantic flavor to the homely substance of the story. ” CFrom the Philadelphia Press. ] "The incidents have a freshness which is charming* and the persons who figure in them are real,- life-like, actual human beings.” One vol, l2mo. * cloth.
