Colonel TBBO. HESBER, of the 724 Regiment P. V.,who fell while gallantly leading hie regiment in the advance on Orange Court House; on the 27th ult. Associated, as that lamented officer had been, with this organisation for many years, and, at the time of his death, still a member of it. we cannot but remember the efficiency of hie services in promoting its discipline, increasing its usefulness, and adding to its reputation ; nor shall we ever forget those traits of character which endeared him to us as a friend and companion. A volunteer from his Arrival at man’s estate, he evinced a passion for mili tary )lf© that wa* followed by the closest application in the attainment of a knowledge of duty. In the Mexican war ho was among the first to obey the c&U of his conn* try, and pan»ed through all its perils with honor, and without a wound.
