Mass InEIIUd)K2HIA r OOMMERCIAL LIST 4 • . • AND , 'LETTER SHUT PRICE CURRENT. PUBLISHED BY STEPHEN N. WINSLOW, 22X GOLD STREET, This journal was established more than thirty years ago. It has kept pace with the progress of Phdadelphia in trade and Wealth, and its columns have been for many years a faithful reflex of the vast and ''Varied business interests of the city. Its statistical information is al ways accurate and reliable; its market repotts as corn., plete and authentic as those of any similar publication in the United 'States. Confidence is a Plant of slow growth. Careful and judicious individuals, who are in any way concerned in commerce or productive industry, will not readily i , ace their trust in the statements of any of the numerous newspapers of a mushroom growth, teeming with flaming promises they cannot fulfil. But a journal which has been fully tested by the vicissitudes of time, which has secured universal respect by its well tried fidelity Under all circumstances; to the true inte rests of business men, and constant efforts to meet their requirements—which is quoted as an authority in the counting-rooms, upon 'Change, and in the market house—and . which is flied for reference by the most sagacious of merchants and manufacturers, can surely claim to be received everywhere as. a welcome friend and assistant in the world of traffic. In its peculiar de partments the COMMERCIAL LIST can afford to chal lenge comparison. Its columns contain weekly reviews of the markets for alt kinds of articles, carefully pre-' pared list/ of prices, and suggestions as- to the probable tendency of events affecting the quoted rates; also, the ruling prices of stocks and other fluctuating investments in which fhe public generally are interested. It has been, and will continue. to be, the aimhf the proprietor of the COMMERCIAL LIST AND PRICE CURRENT to render his sheet acceptable to other than local patrons. While giving watchful attention to • everything that concerns the trade and welfare of Phi ladelphia, he has striven to supply valuable informa tion to farmers and producers of every description throughout the country who are naturally anxious to procure the latest intelligence in regard to the-state of the markets. The man who is desirous of making sales or purchases in any of the great Eastern centres of trade and population may often secure himself against • serious loss, or make arrangements by which they can obtain a heavy profit, by taking .the precaution of con suiting the columns of the "Commercial List." They can base their calculations upon the report in this jour nal with entire Confidence that they are not proceeding upon deceptive and delusive statements, put forth for the 'Purpose of leading them astray. Surely there is no ne cessity for urging upon persons at a distance from the, great marts the importance of improving this opportu nity for keeping themselves thol'oughly posted in mat ters that aftect the reward for their - expenditure and toil. The proprietor of the COMMERCIAL LIST also en deavors to render his weekly issues as entertaining' as they are admitted to be valuable for consultatiOn. Each' number contains editorial articles upon topics that en gage the attention of the business community. BtO GRAPHICAL EKETCITES OF EMINENT MERCHANTS, MANU FACTURERS, AN» Fixt, xcrims, have been contributed by able-writers to enliven the columns of the paper, and similar ones will continue- to form a feature among its numerous attractions. From these articles, the patrons of thisjournal may learn the character and antecedents of individuals who, while mining the ordinary and unostentatious walks of trade, have exhibited qualities that command success in life and advance the general :welfare. .1t pHp.TOGRAPII ALBUMS Of eliely:Titriet7 of SIZE, STYLE, QUALITY, AND PRIQ • 4 ~ 1:~I~1: i:r:\ ~~'Y ~1:F-'bY~] t; tl `l:i ~ f ~ 1'; a+ ~ ;:~H 4 y'll CARTES DE :VISITE in endieise variety, together with an immense stock of STANDARD AND MISCELLANSOUS.LITERLTURR, OLD PAIpASI ..
