'The wharf is to be in the form of a 1'; the part loading from tbe shore to the front will be 521 feet long and 42 feet 6 italics wide ; and the front will be 201 feet ion„ and 42 feet 6 incites wide. From high-water mark to 7 feet 6 inches water the distance is 26S feet; from 7 feet 6 inches depth to 19 feet 6 inches the distance is 140 feet; from 19 feet 6 teaches depth to 2.5 feet 6 inches depth the list: nice is 70 feet, and the front wharf will stand in !about 27 feet inches water, nil at high tide. The piles arc to be el' good sound heart pine, not less than I_9 inches diameter lit lite butt, and must he driven • to a good firm boating; they will be in rows 8 feet from centre to centre, running across the wharf, and seven piles iu each row, with a fender pile on each lode, making nine piles in each cross row. Those piles are to ho barked and covered with sheet zinc. 10 ounces to the square foot, from high-water mark down to 6 inches bolow theisur titre or the mud, well and securely put on, to protect them front the worms. 11 The piles will he cut otrat the proper height, as shown on the plan, and capped with hard pme timber, 12 by 12 inches, every third pile being tennoued into the cap t end pinned, and the others secured with an iron bolt one inch iu diameter and two feet long. Around the outside of the wharf there is to be a string er of hard pine timber, 9 by 12 inches, resting mxm caps and strongly bolted at each crossing, anti between these stringers there are to be bard pine joists 4 by 12 inches, laid 12 inches apart upon the caps, and fastened with 6-inch spikes at each crossing. Upon the joists there is to be a door of 4-inch hard pine plank, fastened with one &Inch spike in each plank at each crossing. Around the edge„ of the wharf there Sato be a cap sill 9 by 10 feet, of herd pine, well fastened and rounded on the top to shed the rain. • The fonder piles are to be strongly bolted to the stringers and cap sills. Four clusters, of about six piles each, are to be driven, capped, and prepared as founda tions for derricks. There are also to be twelve mooring posts of white oak timber.l2 incites in dituneter, well driven and strongly secured to the wharf at the points indicated on the plan. These will lie four feet above the Noon of the wharf, and all piles are to be sheathed with zinc, as before described.. At each end of the front wharf, and on each side of the wharf leading from the shore, there is to be a landing stair :3 feet 6 inches wide, strongly secured to the wharf, and reaching to low-water mark.
