SoiMEHS’ YME—SBMMAHT OF THE RE “'j"* *p co ®Pleto returns from tlio different & ess part incongruous, and) even if reliable, can hardly be regarded as a fair exponent of the will of the companies and regiments considered. By reference to the lists in pofwwion of tile ProtbonotAry, it baaias that the First Regiment of Pennsylvania Reserves cast for no one can didate moire than 54 votes; the Second Regiment in no cose more than 197 votes; the Third Regiment not more than fil votes; the Fourth not more than 71, and the Seventh not more than 69. The First and Second gave xntiorHleif tor MfiCidloygh, Lftwrencis Ewinji, MeClin- M?h* and Johinon. The Third, majorities for Raring, Xkyd, .Lawrence, McClintock, and Johnson. The Jnnrlh and Seventh, majorities for Thompson, Lloyd, Sievenron, Btunm, and Shee. The Twelfth Regiment gave majorities for Swing, McCullough, Lawrence, Mc- Clintoch, and Johnson—the vote being very close. The gave majorities for the whole Democratic ticket; likewise the Twenty-third. The Twenty-sixth Regiment gave large People’s majorities. Tho Twenty seventh, People’s majorities; ditto the Twenty-eighth, Twenty-ninth, and Thirty-first. The Thirtieth Regi nient Democratic majorities; also, the Thirty *ico^wJ£\ Thirty-thiid, and Thirty-sixth. The TUirty- WVSIIIB nave ]Dvmocn*tlc majorities. The Tort)'-Bfth was largely Democratic. The First Bcgi »cnt of Baker’s Brigade, Democratic. Tho Socond gave four hundred and ninety-eight to the Democratic and fcut-axfc vote to the People’s candidates. The Third Itegi nentbf .Baker’s Brigade gave largo People’s majorities. Tbe X&ceiafor Brigade was strongly Democratic In to* RiijihcUy Cavalry the voting was clow—Captain SpTartmo’s .company was Democratic, Captain Fletcher’s The Pennsylvania companies in we How York Volunteers gave every soldier’s vote fur toe People’s ticket. The People’s majorities in McLean’s fejyhtv-eighth Regiment are tweeting. More than two hundreer People’s votes were cast to three Democratic whole returns for county officers foot up Ipf'Erring 2,712 votes, against 1,829 for Thompson. If to Thompson’s vote be added the Schuupfeller re turn-, (900 People’s majority,) he will have a small majority. Col. Schimmelpfennig states, however, that he has but forty Philadelphians in liis camp, none of whom voted. Colonel McLean, wo aro in* forfeed, stales that only about eighty men in his regi ment voted. For Clerk of the Orphans’ Court, the total {SMnipfilier excluded) is Lawrence 2,650, Stevenson 3,822; for Register of Wills, McCullough 2,658, Lloyd 3,838; for City Treasurer, McClintock 2,737, Buram £,773 j for City Commissioner, Johnson 2,703, Shee 1,792. She returns for Representatives arc SO irregular, scat tered, and insufficient, that w* cait make nothing out of them; Democratic majorities, however, Are almost uni formly given. The “ Schimpfiller vote” gives Lloyd 835 iroiife, to 72 for McCullough; and Thompson 912 votes, to f& for Ewing. A glance over the Prothonotary’s papers disttoscs only ft heterogeneous mass of names and figures, .Which we have not the patience to record nor the people Vhc curiosity to read. In no one case was afullvotecaetia any regiment. We cannot, therefore, determine tho po litical complexion of any single military organization, Add the people in general seem to (Ament that in this .rime of domestic confusion and common peril the soldiers Should have voted it all, or, voting, have added another youtce of confusion and discredit. Opinion seems to bo mmon that most of tho volunteer* deriraed having any ighingto do with the election, and perhaps it will be found that the moss of those voting, had no right to do so, ivrhile those whahad a right to do so did not vote. .i—ifEw Bridges over the Schuylkill.—The : railroad bridge of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, ‘ in COUTSe of erection below Christian street, on the . Schuylkill, will probably be completed during tho on* suing month. Toe work upon this bridge was com , raenced in July, 1860, and so far as concerns the ma polity is already finished. A portion of the iron super structure, at the western end, connecting the trcssel ' work with tho first pier, has been placed in position, rrhis superstructure is of the company's own manufae * inrv, and is forwarded to its destination from their shop at Altoona, having been prepared from a plan submitted by the resident engineer, at tbat place. The piles origi • yiolly sunk in order to facilitate the layingofthefoun dations of the bridge, are being drawn up by means of heavy machinery. The proposed railway over the bridge will run along toe north side of the United States Arsenal to a point 700 feet beyond, at which it will connect with tha Baltimore load. Tho new road from the bridge to the point of in ■ •tereection has been already laid out and graded, and . when finished will be used exclusively for freight trains, thus doing away with the burden cars which frequently Jblock the public highway along Dock and Third streets. The cotier dam being erected at the foot of Chestnut etreet. which is preparatory to the erection of tho eastern. Abutment of tho new bridge at this point, will be com pleted by to>piorrow. The work of excavation, In view of the labor required, has been of considerable trouble, but it is thought that the building of the proposed abut ment will certainly ho commence! during the coming week. A derrick fa being erected on the adjoining Wharf, whereby the masonry work may be executed with greater facility. Death from Intemperance.— Yesterday, about twelve o’clock M-, Officer Wilson, of the Reserve Corps, arrested a man whom he found in a beastly state of intoxication, lying on the steps of tiA'old Philadelphia B&nk, Chestnut street, above Fourib. The prisoner was lodged in the lock-up of the Central Station, where he expired during the afternoon.
