Y., Was murdered at West Troy, but all efforts to untold the mystery had hitherto proved unsuccessful, although a reward of $l,OOO, offered by Governor Morgan, is out standing for the conviction of the murderers. Morrison was a member of a eseret association, and it was well known to many that he was ex pecting to receive a large sum of money on the evening of the murder. A few weeks since, a counterfeiter named Henry Wilkinson, who was sentenced to the State Prison at the resent term of the Superior Court, at Taunton, disclosed to Sheriff Babbitt certain facts, which led him to seek an in. terview with a woman named Lucy Wilkinson, who stated that she lived in the family of a man named Jefferson W. Bennett, whom she saw com mit the murder, take Mr. M.'smeney, and.throw his body into the canal. Bennett is keeper of a saloon and bowling alley in West Troy, whioh was also Morrison's business. No European before Duveyrier ever traversed the Nefussa chain of mountains between Radjetas and Nalut. On the Bth of December be was to start for Rhat by a more westerly route than that followed by Rich ardeon. On his way he was to spend a short time in the mountains of Tuareg-Aegar, in order to err certain whether crocodiles are found, as has been asserted, in that region. The interest felt in Du veyrier's investigations is shown by the foot that the Algerian ministry have just bestowed upon him the sum of 11,800 francs In payment of his ex penses for the year PM.
