OPINION Op Joßrlon SYRONd.—The opinion given
by Justine Strong, in the somewhat celebrated cue of
Whiners. Welsh. in the Court of Nist Price, and which
was published in exteriso In TAe Press Of yesterday,
bee attracted marked attention. In 'the report which
we gave thereof several transpositions of paragraphs
rendered the ,conneotion in which a number of the nen
tenees &teemed somewhat unintelligible. In the body
of the opinion were portions of the ooneleslon. and in
the commencement appeared references to authorities •
which were not cited by Justice Strong until a state
naent of the facts to which they referred was given.
The mistake, though Ryan do no very serious harm, we
nevertheless greatly regret. Those familiar with the
details of the trial could not hare been misled by our
account of Its history, which was correct in every par
ticular, and rude without prejudice to the patties en
gated on either aide.

GENTLEIIIIN f We have recovered the Herring's
Patent Champion Safe, of your make, which we bought
from you nearly five years ago, from the ruins of our
building, N 0.716 Chestnut street, whieh was entirely
destroyed by fire on the morning of the hilt inst.
So rapid was the progress of the flames, before we
could reach the store the whole interior was one mass
of fire. 'The cafe being in the bark part of the store.
and surrounded by the most combustible materials, was
exposed to great heat, It fell with the walla of that
Part of the building into the cellar, and remained Im
bedded in the ruins for more than thirty hours.
The Safe was opened this morning in the preaenoe of
a number of gentlemen, and the oontonta ' comprising
our books, belle receivable, money, and a large amount
of valuable rapers, are all safe ; not a thing was touched
by fit e. Respectfully yours,
THEO. U. PETERS & CO.
The above safe can he seen at our store, where the
nubile aro invited to call and examine It.
