* A Steam Fire Engine toe Lancaster.—
We understand that the Empire Hook and Ladder
. ■ Company, at the solicitation of some of our leading
-citizens, have been induced to renew their efforts
—to~raise the means to pnrohase a steam fire engine
similar to the “ Hope/* of Philadelphia. We ore
informed Jhaf several gentlemen are willing to
give $lOO each, and with a few contributors of tbAt
kind the necessary amount could soon be raised.
Wo trust the movement will be suooossful: indeed,
r the introduction of steam fire, engines, here and
- elsewhere, is only a question of time. Theirsups
rior efficiency is so apparent, that there can be no
—.-tiro opinions on the subject. We therefore wish the

any man in the world of a similar age, one or two
