A Notice to Druggists.—A firm lu Boston having issued circu’ars and advertisements reflecting upon oar Gocoine, .we submit the following statement of facts in refutation of their false pretensions : They evidently estimate the extent of our knowledge of Gocoine by their own limited and recently acquired Information; whereas Gocoine is no novelty with ns, fer and sold our popular preparation for the hair upwards of twenty years ago, and long before the firm In question had an existence. It therefore re mains for these slanderous pretenders to prove their claims to originality. Even inventors are sometimes slow in producing their evidence; in the meantime* therefore, we appeal to your sense of Justice for; the purpose of testiog their unfounded assertions. Tho practical knowledge and experience obtained during the twenty years since our first preparation was uado, re* suits in our now producing the most perfect Gocoine that ever received public approbation. Satisfied that we could safely rely upon the superior and intrinsic qualities or our Gocoine sustaining Us popular reputa tion, we plaoed it before the public in a shape, style, and appearance that it could not possibly be mistaken for any other preparation. The word Gocoine (ko ko een) which we selected and copy-righted os the name for our popular preparation for the hair, may be found in Bechnell’s National Dictionary, and that work may be consulted at the Aetcr Library, Where the word ‘‘Oeooalne” is to be found, except in the advertisement of the ooncero aforesaid, I am unable to state. I believe nowhere. Their piracy insinuation, therefore, only serves to display their Ignoranoe alike of Gocoine and its name. Doubtless, therefore, they will have the entire monopoly of their own meaningless compound. Our labels afford unmistakable evidence that no Imitation was ever con templated. They are finished In the first style of art* and entirely different in shape, color, aud designs, and distinctly declare the contents of every bottle to be “ Phalon A Son’s Gocoine for the Hair.” Wo, how. ever, afford the public a still further guarantee that they receive nothing bnt cur genuine Gocoine, by hav ing our same and address stamped in the glees of every bottle leaned from our establishment. These external distinctions, we apprehend, sufficiently prove that no imitation was intond'd. Beyond all these, however, we confidently rely upon the noapproachable and Intrinsic qualities of our Ooeoine, which effectually prevents the possibility of its being mistaken for any other compound. We take this opportunity of remind ing yon that, unlike Oocoaine or other compounds, our Gocoine is perfectly free from the strong and offensive odor of imperfeotly purified cocoanut oil, and is also readily distinguished by its fragrant and popular per fume. Nor can we conolude this communication with out soliciting assistance in defending our thirty years’ spotless reputation from the unscrupulous calumnies and aspersions of jealous snd disappointed competitors. [Letter from a Lawjer in Newburyport, Masa.j NKwmmrroaT, February 26,1860. Josxrß Burkett, Esq.—Dear Sir: It is sow nearly twelve months since I received the first bottlo of your valuable medicine for the cure of the Asthma. For thirteen years I suffered with the Asthma, and during that time there were but few months in which I did not suffer with a paroxysm that entirely prostrated me for two or three days, and sometimes longer. I will say, that from the time I took the first dose of your “ Remedy” to tho present hour, I have not had a had attack, and now my system Is so free from it, that the most active exercise and exposure seldom has any other effect than to slightly restrict the lungs Your medicine soon dispels that sensation, and I can safely claim a release from the tormentor.
