with great credit.
A bashful old woman, being one
evening ut a party, was greatly at loss

ventured to inquire of a gentleman

Clark. Willie J. son of Jas. L. and
Alice Clark, on April 7, Is-, of
PHiro Pneumonia, aged 3 years, 1
month and 7 days,
After a painful a illness of several
weeks timing which time he
received every attention that loving
hands and hearts could bestow little
Willie took his Spirit flight to the
heavenly Shore. Willie was a beauti
ful child, beloved and petted by all
who kntw him. He suffered much
and the disease baffled the skill of his i
physician. A lurye number of sympa
thizing friends attended his funeral
services In the Methodist church at
10 o'clock, Tuesday A. M. We oppegd

A regular meeting of the Town
Council of Rldgway Borough was held
May 1, 1882, at 9, A. M.
Members present C. H. McCauley,
President, and Messrs. Thayer, Flynn,
Osterhout, Oyster nnd Hyde.
Minutes of last meeting read nnd
approved.
complaints.
Mr. Osterhout complained that the
sidewalk over Hyde's mill race, near
the planing mill, was In bad condition.
Mr. Thayer complained that the
sidewalk along premises of J. Powell
and Geo. V. Rhines, also along W.
H. Hyde's lot No. 5'J on Elk street
was in bad condition, and dangerous
to pedestrians. The complaints were
referred to the commit tee on sidewalks
and pavements with directions to have
the same repaired forthwith.
COMMUNICATION,
were presented from Messrs. D. B. Day,
J. W. Morgcster, and Henry A.
Pursons Jr., requested that their sev
eral names be withdrawn from a cer
tain petition presented to council
April 10, 1SS2, for the survey, laying
out, and opening of a certain street
from Grant to Depot street, near Hyde's
mill race. On motion said requests
were granted.

The petition of citizens of the
Borough for the Survey, view and lay
ing out of a street from Grant to Depot
streets, above Hyde's mill race, pre
sented April 10, LS82, was further con
sidered, when, 011 motion it was un
animously resolved that the prayer of
said petitioners be granted.
It was on motion, Jfctolrrnl that the
committee on ordinances be instructed
be report an ordinance ut next meeting
ingordainingand layiugout suidstreet,
with a draft of the same annexed, in
conformity with the petition and reso
lution above stated.

read and approved.
Mr. E. .1. Miller appeared and com
plained that water flowed from an
alley along the cast side of iiis town
lot No. 'J", upon and tic loss said town
lot to Ids damage and inconvenience,
and requested that the matter bo at
tended to. Referred to the committee
on streets and bridges.
Mr. Thayer, special committee to
procure contract with publishers of
Advocate and Ucmrm-at for print
ing ordinance iOe. for current year
reported progress when on motion
further consideration of thesubject was
postponed till the next meeting.
On motion Geo. R. Woodward was
appointed Borough collector for the
current year, and rqeuestcd to tile a
bond in the sum of 3iKW, with two
sufficient sureties.
Ordered that a duplicate of the
Borough taxes be mude out and placed
in the hands of tlie collector.
Tlie committee on ordinances re
ported an ordinance, ordaining and
enacting that a public street is hereby
laid out and ordained to be opened
from Grunt to Depot streets near
Hyde's mill race, said ordinance hav
ing annexed a draft of said street furn
ished by the Borough Surveyor. On
motion ordinance adopted, .tnd said
draft ordered placed on hie.
On motion ordered t hat the balance
of fine unpaid by Thomas Delaney
now confined in the lock-up, be re
mitted and said Thomas Delaney be
released.
On motion it was ordered that the
Borough attorneys, be directed to -prepare
and present to court an applica
tion for the appointment of freeholders
to assess damages incident to tlie laying
out and opening Buce Street. Ad
journed. Ladies and sickly girls requiring u
