Carriages without horses shall go,
Aud accidents fill the world with woe.
Around the world thoughts shall fly,
In the twinkling of an eye.
Water shall yet more wouders do;
How strange, yet shall be true!
The world upside down shall be,
And gold be found at root of tree.
Through hills men shall ride.
And no horse or ass be at their side.
Under water men shall walk.
Shall ride, shall sleep, shall talk.
In the air men shall be seen,
In white, iu black, in green.
Iron in the water shall float
As easy as a wooden boat.
Gold shrllbe found and found.

England shall at last admit a Jew.
And tho world unto an end shall come

Tho idea that one man can carry the
vote of a State in his breeches pocket,
was probably entertained until a late
hour on Tuesday evening by ex-Governor
Cuntin, of Pennsylvania. The Gree
lcyites bad-flattered him into this belief
the Tribune had overwhelmed him
with abject fawnings, and Mr. Curtin
undoubtedly thought that he wan the
head nf the Jru.blienn party..
Once more the lesson has been taught
which politicians are bo slow to learn
that politicians and nowspapere are
only powerful so loDg as they truly,
faithfully, and candidly reproscnt puh
lio opinion. When a man has perform
ed this duty for some time, he occasion,
ally is deluded it to the idea that he is
the public that all the world will
follow him.
The latest victim to this delusion is
Andrew G- Curtin, who owed ht posi
tion entirely to the Republican party,
and took the first opportunity which pre
sented itself of dealing a treacherous
slab at that party and its chiefs. Wo
boubt whether the applause of theGree
leyits and Copperheads will compensate
him lor his betrayal of his prinoipesl
and bis fricuds. Arte l'oth tiling.
Th resident and tin Indians.
The various Indian delegations now
here visited the Executive Mansion to
day. The Prcsideut, through an inter
preter, informed them that the effort ot
the government Wi.s to udvuuoo them in
civilization and preserve their lives by
cti3ourngiug them to iuilustriuj pursuits

.The white people are uow so numerous
aud increasing so rapidly as to crowd
the Indians, mil therefore it was neces
sary that the Indians no more Wad u
roving lile but have fixed places of abode.
The sooner they uuderstoud aud valued
this fact the better lor them and their
children. The I'resideut remarked that
he had nothing mofc tc say except
through the Secetary of the Interior.
The Indians listened attentively, but
no invitation wasgjven them to respond.
The I resident and .Secretaries, four of
whom were present, retired to attend a
cabinet meeting, which was aliened by
all except Secretary Robeson and Attor
ney General Wil'iums. The Itiiiinus,
after examining fho premises, left tor
their quarters.

Is one of the most temarVable fnots of

we would not be understood to sny that any

Of all the mtiltifitrfrnis diseases to which

A CONFIRMED DYSPEPTIC.
We have said that dvsrieDsia is perhaps
the most universal of human diseases.
This is iiuphnf icnll.y the case in tbe United
States. Whether this general prevalence
is due to the chiirnoter of the food, the
method of its preparation, or the hasty
manner in which it is usually swallowed. "
is not our province to explain. The great
fnct with which we are called to deal is
this:

this wonderful prcpniation than can he

the proprietor, then abandon faith in it,
LET IT BE REmEMBERED,
first, of all, that HOOFLAND'S GERMAN
BITTEHS is arum beverage.
They are composed wholly of the pure
juice or vital principle of roots. This is
not a mere nssertton The extracts from
which ihey are compounded are prepared by
ono of the ablest of German chemists. Their
effects can be beneficial only in all cases of
the billiary system, lloofland's German
Bittern stand without an equal, acting
ptnmptly aud vigorously upon the liver;
they remove its torpidity and. cause health
ful secretion of bile thereby supplying
the stomach with the most indispensable
elements of soittid digestion in propor pro
ponio is.
They purify the hlnol. cleansing the
vital fluid i. till hurtful impurities and su
planting them with the elements of genuine
benlthtttlness.
Now, there aro certain classes ot per
sons to whom extreme hitters are not only
unpalatable, but who find it impossible to
take them without positive discomfort. For
such Dr. IIOOFLAXD'S GERMAN TONIC
has been specially prepared. It is intended
for use where a slight alcoholio stimulant
is require in connection with tho well
known Tonic properties of the pure Ger
man Bitters.
HOOFLAND'S TONIC
acts wilh almost marvelous effect. It not
only stimulates the flagging and wasting
energies, hut invigorates and permanently
strengthens its action upon the Liver
nnd Stomach thorough, perhaps le?,
prompt than the Bitters, when tne same
quantity is taken is none the less certnin.
Indigestion, Cillioueness, Physical or Ner
vous pi-oslriitiou, yield readily to Its po
tent influence. It gives the iuvalid a new
and stronger hold upon life, removes de
pression of spirit, and inspires cheerful
ness. Dul Dr. Hoofland's benefactions to
the human nice arc not confined to his
celebrated GERMAN BITTERS, or his
invaluahlo Tonic. He has prepared an
other medicine, which is rapidly winning
its way to popular favor because of its in
trinsic metits. This i HOOFLAND'S!
PODOIMIYLLIN PILLS, a perfect s-jhsti-tute
for mercury without any of mercury's
evil qualities.
These wonderful Pills, which Ar Intend
ed to net upon tho Liver, are mainly com.
posed of Ptdonhvllin, or the vital
pie of the mandrake root. It is the medi
cinal virtues of this health-giving plant, in
a perfectly pure ami highly concentrated
form. The PoJnphyliin acts directly on
the Liver, stimulatine its fnnotim. n,l
causing it to mr.ke its Miliary seoretions in
regular and proper quantities. The inju
rious results which invariably follow tho
use of mercury- is entirely avoided by
their use. But it is not upon the Liver
only that, their powers are exerted. The
extract of Mandrake contained in them is
skillfully combined with four other ex
tracts, one of which acts upon the stomach,
one upon the upper bowels, one upon the
lower bowels, and prevents any griping
effect, thus producing a pill that influences
the enth e digestive and alimentary system,
in an equal ami harmonious manner, and
its action entirely Iree from nausea, vomit
ing or griping pains common to all other
purgatives.
Possessing these much desirable qualities
the Podophyllin becomes invaluable as a
