THE ertY POST
TUESDAY IMORNINO - NOVEMBER 18
.
Ontna binansa.--Yeeterday afternoon, about
three o'clock, - the body of a. taste child, ap

canal, neat Second street. The - bcidy - traefirst

buried it on the side of the bank ; afterwards,
they informed several persons of the circum
stances, when the body was dialnterred, and no
tification given to Coroner Alexander, who Ikea
an inquest. Nothing satisfactory, however, re
sulted from - the investigation, as no information
could be elicited relative to the perpetrators of
the act. The jury- returned a verdict of

committed in our city witain a very short time,
showing an extremely bad' state of morals.—
Measures should be adopted to hunt out the
perpetrators of these sots and have them
brought to justice.
ANNESTND ON SUSPICION —The police, from
information received on Saturday, having reason
to believe that a number of thieves who at present
infest our city, made a number of houses of bad
repute in the vloinity of Webster, Washington,
and Prospect streets, their haunts, and suppo
sing that the stolen properly might be secreted
there on Sunday evening madeKdesoent on seve
ral o f abodes of infamy in the neighborhood,
and succeeded in arresting and conveying to
the tombs four well knoTwn characters, Pete.
Delaney, Samuel Black, John Williams, and
Knooh Howell. Some fifteen houses were en
tered by the officers, but no stolen property
was discovered. Believing he could make
something out of the parties in a few days, the
Mayor committed throe of them, Williams,
Black, and Delaney, to prison, on charge of
disorderly oonduot and vagrancy. Howell was
discharged.
NEW Loccistrava.—A remarkably splendid
new locomotive has just been placed upon the
Ohio and Penney'Tapia railroad. It is a first
class, Express Passenger Engine, built by 0. W.
Bayley, of Manchester, N. H., and is an im
provement upon the fine engines by the same
builder now in use upon the road. The engine

respect for the memory of Mr. Lorenz, who died
last year, and who was one of the firmest
friends, one of the largest Stockholders, and
one of the most efficient directors of the corn
patty. Ile abored daily in the service of the
road, and was ever ready to aid It with his ex
cellent business abilities, and his great personal
credit. Soon after his death, the Board of Di
rectors ordered that a new first class passenger
engine should bear his name, and that resolu•
tion has now been carried into effect.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY ns ALLEG
Saturday, or early on Sunday morning, an en

hands upon, and left it in the hall until they

apartment they succeeded in getting his gold
watch, but the no se they made asoke him.—

using the same according to your direct:lona, I succeeded in
restoring my eight so that I can read by night or day with

not a temporary one, but a valuable and permanent cure.
