H. Cooney by false protons:tee. Verdict of not guilty. Commonwealth vs. Samuel Iggieson and Wm. M'Coy; indictment, riot, on complaint of Mrs. Rebecca Lytle. The proseentrix testified in sub stance that the defendants came to her house, in Logetown, Peebles township, on tile night of the 12th of April lost, and after breaking in het door, knocked her down and otherwise abused her. The jury, after a short absence, returned a verdict of assault and battery against Iggleeon, and riot against M'Coy. Tho Court sentenced Iggieson to-two years' imprisonment in the pen itentiary, on a former conviction for assault and battery with intent to kill, sentence on the pre sent vercPot being reserved. M'Coy was also sentenced to two years in the penitentiary. Commonwoolth vs. Mary Kelly ; indictment, keeping a bawdy house, on oath of Win. Healy. Verdiot of guilty, and defendant sentenced to one month in jail. Bcritcuamr.—The clothing store of J. L. Car nahan, corner of Federal and Water streets, Al legheny, was broken open on Tuesday morning, about three o'clock, by a couple of burglars, and velvet vest patterns, fine furnishing goods, &a, to the amount of $BO, were taken from the win dow. The rascals pried off the iron fastening of the shutters, and broke one of the largo panes of glass, but the noise attracted the attention of a citizen Who was passing at the time; and, as soon as they saw him, they deoamped with what booty they could lay their hands on. Tho arts• aloe were all subsequently discovered by High constable Scott, in a yard attached to Ewer & M'Clee's dry goods store, whore they had proba bly been thrown by the thieves to escape detec- tion. THE BABY Snow.—Yesterday the crowds vis iting this novel exposition was very large, and now gives evidence of its complete success. Altogether the exhibition was more attractive and better patronised than we had a reison to suppose from looking in there yesterday morn ing.
