BILIRDOCH, Physician of Board of Health • Tao Founru.--Whether we are getting to be a more Virtuous community, or whether someother cause is the reason, we don't know, but it is a remarkable fact, that each succeeding Fourth of July is celebrated in a quieter, more peaceable and orderly Manner than its predecessor. This fact *as never' more evidently felt than on Wednesday last. With the exception of a few oases of drunkenness, not many more than used to . distinguish almost every Sunday previous to the passage of the liquor law, the day passed off art soberly as any other day..We observed, no riotingin the city, those who 'did get drunk being hurried off to the watch house before they had a chance to raise a row. In inorning, thousands hurried to the cot try. to get a sniff of fresh air, for perhaps the only:time in the year, while, to counterbal ance these, an equal number f country folks came in to• look at the sights in town. The Ohio and Pennsylvania Railroad and the Cen• tral Railroad did an immense business in the carrying line. We did not hear the number of tickets sold 'at the office of the first named road, tint understand it was exceedingly large ; at the office of - tholitter, eight thousand six hundred and eighteen tickets were sold, for which the sum nrsl,7oo'Vesis received. As a very corn• mendibfeleitnre in the celebrations of the day, we obeekved that a large number of tho Sabbath Schools were out Pio Nicing, under charge of their various superintendents and teachera, mad the hillein the neighborhood were crowded with merry children. Various.other Pio Nies were 131.30 held, including one given by the Odd rot- Inward one by the Firemen. The different places of amusement were crowded, and everybody seemed to he on the hunt of pleasure of some kind. SHOOTING AFFAIR IN LAWRENCE - ST - 2_lE. --A shoot:ng ,affair occurred at Lawrenceville, on Wednesday afternoon, in which a German bar keeper named Prietag, engaged at Winter's tav ern, was ahem in the neck. It appears that three boys, whose ages did not exceed fifteen years, at the bar for liquor being already in loxicuted the barkeeper refused to give them acy, and - ordered them out o. the hence ; where upon nne Of the boys, named Hulmee, drew a pistol and snapped it at the barkeeper without discharging it. He immediately drew another pistol, and discharged it, the contents of which lodged in the neck of the barkeeper. Upon examination of the wound it was ascer tained that the pistol hal been charged frith Riot, some Sixteen of which were taken out of the man's neck. Had it not been for a heavy cravat, which received a great many shot, the barkeeper would undoubtedly have lost his life. Hulmee was arrested by the bystanders, but was rescued by his friends, who managed to get him off and secrete bias. ACCIDENTS ON THE FOrRTR.—The following chapter of accidents occurred on Wednesday : A lad about eight •years' of age, named Walker, living in the sixth Ward, was seriously injured on the bead by the premature explo sion of a small cannon. It is feared his ekuil was fractured. Louis Niiglo, a cabinet maker, employed at the Novelty Works, fell down two pair of stairs, at a tavern in Diamond alley, and fractured hie knee cap. Peter Koerner, a lad aged twelve years, re siding on Pennsylvania Avenue, had the thumb of his right hand blown off by the premature discharge of a pistol. A boy named John Cornett, aged six years, fell from a °berry tree at his father's residence, on Centre Avenue, and fractured hie left thigh bone. Jeremiah Marattan, a laborer, residing on Pennsylvania Avenue, was thrown from a baggy against a curb stone, and had his right collar bone broken. FATAI ACCIDENT ON THE 0. & P. RAILROAD. —On Wednesday afternoon, a lad about fifteen years of ago, named Charles W. Harris, was an oidentally killed on the Ohio and Pennsylvania Railroad, in the following manner: He was i i employed on the mail train to servo water to the passengers, and as the oars passed Richland station, a short distance east of Crestline, went 4 out on the platform to look ahead, but not being careful, his head came in contact with a water tank; anti ha wee knocked off the train. The cars d were immediately stopped, and although still living when picked up, he died in about ten min utes. He boarded at the Perry Hotel, in this city, lat.his body was conveyed to the residence of his mother in Massillon. He was an cnly son, and the occurrence has pressed so heavily on his mother—a widow—that she is not ex ‘peoted to survive. be first six months of 1855. ...... ic507,574 he first six months of 1854 445 , &;;S 88 MS=lMlina A Itsvrvat or Buntissa.—The gl-lorious " Fourth produced, as we imagined it would, a re vival of police business ; and our -magistrates had nothing to complain . of, in that.line yester day. In addition to7a large number discharged on payment of fines, eighteen persons were com mitted to jail for runkenness and disorderly conduct. Many Aldermen were also occupied, the best part of the day, trying innumerable suits of assaults and batteries, growing out of a non-cbservance of the liquor law. ::JULY 6 CSILDRIiN PERRY HOTEL.—This fine Hotel, since its re opening under the charge of Mr. James Galla gher, has been doing an ezoollent business. Situated on the bank of the Allegheny-, the cool breezes from that river give it an advantage as a summer residence possessed by no other Hotel in the city. The table cannot be surpassed, and the general arrangements of the house aro un equalled for comfort and oonvenience. The landlord is obliging and gentlemanly, while the servants aro attentive and unobtrusive. NEWS BY TELEGRAPH, ...Total 17 Reported Expressly for the Daily Morning Post. FROM SEBASTOPOL. WEEKLY MONEY ARTICLE PITTIMMIOI3, July 6, 1055. The money market presents still a steady end healthy condition an increase in demand this week is noticed, but nothing at all to produce a stringency. The first of July being our regular half-yearly time for settling accounts, &c., business paper will become convex hat more abundant: however, the mode upon which Waite:se has been conducted for the Fast Biz months will cull fur but a comparatively . small amount of obligations to be given this time. The Banks continuo to do the meat of the prime paper offered. The wants of our business men are but moderate, owing, to the falling off of business in almost every branch, Aod while the bunks are doing the good ',tiger offered, there is, we may say, nono on tho street. Second rata paper pastes at twelve and fifteen per cent. Our present condition serves to strengthen hopes for the future, and financial aEsirs although to a prosperous condition, will, In a short time, present the most healthy condition realized for years gone by.
