MELANCHOLY ACCIDENT —A young and prom ising lad, named Henry Crsit, was accidentally killed, on Thursday afternoon, by falling from a cherry tree. The boy was about ins tant years of age, and had been adopted and raised in the family of Mr. Michael M'Cal lough, of Lawrenceville. On Thursday, while on a visit to a relation near Perrysville, be as <tended a cherry tree for the purpose of procu slag some of the fruit. When a considerable distance up, the limb upon which he was , stand ingsgave way, precipitating him to the ground -the-fall resulting in his instant death. His wrist and neck were both broken. The exhibition is one well oil misted to delight the educated and refined, and we are glad - to sec it so well patronized. The place of exhibition is more comfortable than any ball could be these warm nights, and the -objections that could be urged against a pnb;io room, cannot be applied to the Pagoda. In ad dition to the beautiful Dioramas and Pyric Fires, an excellent band is in attendance, which discoursea sweet music daring the performance. EsoAPE.—Yesterday morn• ing, as a young man named William Miller, liv ing on °sin street, Allegheny, was engaged in drawing the load from a rifle, the weapon by some accident was discharged, when his face was almost directly over tho muzzle. The ball in passing out ploughed'a furrow along the left nheek, and took off a portion of one of the ears, but by an almost providential interference in listed no dangerous wound. The young man's face was also considerably disfigured by the Ex plosion, and his eyesight somewhat injured. MUD WARD S u0m...--The examination of the pupils of the Third Ward School, ccta manning on Thursday, closed last night. The scholars manifested great proficiency In the va rious branches in which they were examintd, and showed conclusively that the instructions received from the excellent Principal, Mr. J. M. Prior, and teachers, had not been In vain. The examination was alike creditable to teachers and pupils.
