Baumgarten er Reins, of Ramberg, the manufacturers, was ineorted. This morning I obsermi in several of the daily papers a " Notic , ," signed by Prof. It., in which he states that I was unauthorized to make ass of it, suit that It was incorrectly stated and applied. la reply-1 presumed that it he had written the letter, he, of course, meant what was therein contained, and con sequently required no authority from him to make the same public. As regards the aseerUon as to lto incorrect ness, I have the letter in my possession, and it speaks fox Been. word for word as I have published. Messrs. Baum gotten A Urine are not dependant upon Mr. Rohbock for endommerit—their Pianos worn known, appreciated and re rived the highest rommendatlons from the first artists, long before Prof. R. saw tit to pass an opinion upon them. My reason for publishing the extract wan la the fact that be was well known in the city, and not be ease Ida recom mendation was necessary to establish the merit of the Pianos. In concluelen, I may add that they stand on their own merit, and are endorsed by such men as List, Thalberg, and others, solely on account of their merit. uati2.3 CIiAttLOTTE BLUNIR. I will, , prooeed at once to give you soma mount of the., appearance and prospects of the, growing crops ' s which,' according to promise, I took some pains to observe during my journey; and of the sue- , rounding country, as I have ascertained by in 7 quiry. , , Of the grain crop every thing can be told hia very few words, for all have .the same, answer— and that is that every where the prospects , are , exceedingly cheering. Wheat looks extremely : well and nothing can bo more beautiful than the broad and almost countless acres that. I have passed, covered.with a most luxuriant carpet of waving green—not a single bare spot to be seen. A larger quantity of corn and oats have been planted and sown thaimmual, and both look very promising. There have been several quite . sodden frosts, however, within the last ten days, which it is said have injured some of the young corn in low, wet places, though not 'seriously.. If it had done so, there is yet time in this part, of the country to replant. I have also 'noticed may fine looking fields of Spring wheat and rya:' Potatoes and other vegetables - are doing well; though the Beason is somewhat baokward, :Of - fruit I am sorry to say I cannot, speak _so en couragingly ; the late frost had done -coneiderM ble damage to many kinds, and cherrieti-and peaches, it is said, are wholly destroyed, nx cepting a few favored localities. This, however, : is not so great a loss as yon might suppose. Northern. Illinois Is not yet a fruit growing country—although it is probably destined to bd. In time. The orchards are few, 'yonng,:•anti: in the most favored season wonld•not yet protium more than what would be sufficient for local uee. It is the terminus of the , Chicago, Dixon and Fulton Air Line Railroad, :which is ~already completed to within about twentrfive . , miles of Fulton,'and will be finished about 'the first - of September. This' road is about 'fifty • miles shorter than any other running from co, cage to the Mississippi—being but one hill:Arid and thirty-five miles in length.
