Mss DROWNED.—Yesterday morning, a large
raft, loosened - by the rise in the Allegheny,
came down the river, with but a single man on
board, and struck against one of the piers of
the old Allegheny bridge, where it broke in two,
one part lodging on the pier, and the other
floating off with the man. When opposite the
mouth of the canal, this portion went to pieces,
and before assistance could be rendered, the in
divnal fell into the water and was drowned.
Where he came from, or who he was, of course
could not be ascertained.

Row AMONGST THE COAL BOATMEN.—TWO
PERSONS SERIOUSLY INJURLD — Yesterday after.
;icon about six o'clock, a ditli.ulty occurred at
the Point between two coal boatmen, in relation
to the fastening of a boat. From words they
I proceeded to blown; when a number of other
men belonging to the boats adjacent, observing
the fight, interfered and attempted to separate
the combatants; but this movement being mis
understood, they were assailed by another re
inforcement of coal boatmen who came on the
ground, and a general row soon ensued. Lumps
of coal, bricks, stones, &c., were thrown with
a reckless disregard of life. Ono man, whose
name we could not aecertain, was struck on the
temple with a stone, and injured so severely that
his life is despaired of. After the affray he was
taken to his residence in Allegheny. Another
was hit on the head with a brick, and the whole
scalp knocked off. He was brought to the
Mayor's Office in an insensible condition, but af
terwards recovered his senses. Others were
also injured more or lees. We believe no arrests
were made, but probably will be to day.

AGY - IlitriPs Hair RestawTbie preparation
seems to be efficacious for the restoration of the heirupon
bald heads. We have seen the testimony of persons well
known to us, who have used the compound successfully
thereby corroborating the opinion of its restorative saes
gy. We know of nothing more desirable to the way of per
itonea comeliness and comfort than a goo.t hand of hair, and
any process by which this crowning ornament of the outer
man can be preserved, or recovered when lost, without, in

We took occasion the other day to notice this valuable
compound In the above terms, and now republish what wee
then said, to show again our favorable opinion of it.
The foregoing le taken from the Petersburg (Virginia)
intelligencer, and refers to an article which has for a time
been advertised In our columns. We must confess that we
have been somewhat sceptical as to the remarkable effects
attributed to this famous "Mir Restorer."' But our in.
eredulity has been greatly shaken within a day or two by
seeing a couple of certificates of well•known and perfectly
credible citizens of the neighboring town of Preston--one
of them the Captain of a New London whaling ship—to the
effect that, In each Of these cases, a two or three montia•
use of the "Restorer" had actually brought out a new and
vigorous growth of hair upon the head where it was before
bold—the baldness being,in one case, of more than twenty
years standing. We do not suppose it is by any means err
min that, because the application has been thus successful
in one case, or two, or a dozen, it is therefore certain to
prove equally successful in all. Rut with such head.stromg
evidence as the foregoing, very few bald heads, we suspect,
would willingly forego a fair trial of the "Restorer." all
such 't old heads" are informed that the article can be had
at Messrs. Lee & Oogood's.—Nortoich Evening Courier.
