The Seventh Ward - would have hid an increase, but thepresentschOol handing is not adapted to an increase. The committee recommended the addition of two teachers as soon as the new building, to be commenced next month, Is completed. The number of teachers remain the same in the let, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. and 6th Wards. The committee also recommend that It be left optional with the Ward Boards, (Seventh Ward excepted,) to employ an assistant M•le Teacher, each at a salary of 5600 per annum. The cost for keeping open Night Scheele' for three months during the coming School year is estimated at $l,OOO. The commit tee also recommended the employment of two music teachers for the several wards of the city, at an estimated cost of $1,200. Total estimated cost for teaching schools for 1855-68, $36,800 After considerable discussion this repot was adopted. The Committee on High Schools reported that they had received no communication from the trustees of the West ern University. They also:reported that the fourth story of theThild Ward School House could be obtained for tem porary. occupancy by the High School. The Committee were - inst rooted to confer with the Third Ward Board as to rent, dc„ and report at a future meeting. The Board then took up the matter of School Tax. After some discussion, the tax was placed for the coming year, at Ftd Mitts ON rim DoLtaa. Going on the basis of the county duplicates. this tax will raise a School Fund 0f550,000. An Engljahman named Adam Anson yesterday. made information before Alderman Parkinson, against some one name unknown, living in the tavern of Michael Maigrave, for stealing from him his pocket book coutainbag $2O. lie states that he went Imo Mulgrave's house, to get a glass of whiskey, aLer procuring which, he laid down and went to sleep. When he awoke he left the house,but soontlisoovering that his pocket had been picked came back and demanded his money; tut instead of giving up possession alba twenty dollars, Mulgrave seized the deponent and ineked him- in a room, where he kept him for several hourr. its the money was taken during the time Anson was asleep, he could not make Information against any one in. particular for robbery, to be had Mul grave arrested and held to bail fir keeping a tippling house. FALSE Purritsicts.—Alderman Wilson yester day issued a warrant for the arrest of a young man named Thomas al'Donald far obtaining a promissory note of the value of $3O from Mrs. Pratt, by false and fraudulent repre sentations. The n ote was drawn by Sir. Jonathan Green, n for r of the husband of the prosecutrix, who is a widow, and .WDonahrobtained possession of it by offering to pro cure her the money. Instead of doing this, he sold ihe net, to Uogh Fleming, Esq., County Treasn rer, for $5, which ha pocketed, leaving Mrs. Pratt minus the whole value of the note.
