PI C. Shannon called the "meeting ,to order, and moved that HENRY M’CULLOtJGH, aot as ohairman. This motion was unani mously adopted-. 1 ' The meeting was then organixed-by the selec tion of the following gentlemen as Vice Presi dents and Secretaries. Vice Presidents —C. Ihmson, James Blakely, John Tiernan, John D. Scully, John J. Mitchell. John M’Davitt, Dr. G H. Keyser. Secretaries —Jas. P. Barr, John N. M’Clowry. G. B. L. Fetterman. Mr. Luke Taaffe then moved that a committee be appointed to draft resolutions expressive of the sence of the assemblage. The. motion was carried, and Messrs. Luke Taaffe, Dr. George 11. Keyser, John N. M’Clowry, James Blakely, Dr. D. M'Neal, Hon. P. M’Kenna, Francis Fe lix and P. Kerr, were appointed. Daring the absence of the oommittce, Jndge Shannon was called upon to address the meet ing. He alluded to the. measure before the Le gislature as being uncalled for by the Catholics who desired no .change in the manner of holding ohnroh property. He spoke very severely of Senator Price, of Philadelphia, as the author of the bill, and denied several statements lately made by him in a speech in tho Senate. The Jndgo spoke for.threo-quarters of an hour, and was often interrupted by applause. We took a full report of the speech, but a want of space prevents us from furnishing a longer acoount. At the conclnsion of the Jndge’e address, the oommittce enterod abd reported the following Resolutions, which were adopted unanimously WnraXAS, an Act entitled an Act relating to corporations and to estates held for corporato, ltellglous and Charitable uses, being No. A 7 on she file of tho Senate, has been intro, duced Into the Senate of Pennsylvania, and rend in place bv .Mr. Price, January 17th,18d5; and whereas, tho firth and seTfnthjtectlons of said Act ma erially interfere with tho Catholio citizens of this S.ate to the regulation, ordering and management cf their Church attaint— end this i-o to a manner injurious to their Interests, and to a degree sub versive of them rights, being celoulatod to force upon them the adoption of tha I.a.v Trustee ays-em of Church rnsnogo- Sient, o Fy&tem of which they do not approve, nud tho ovil cfftfCta of,which hare been evidenced to them in the few ta rtanees where it has been tried; end ns they aro rullv«»M*- hed with the eyf-tem under which ibeir Church rroT.env U at tJsTi S,;nt v ordered and managed—the ti'lo of pMd Church property vestml, a <ut is, by TirtueoMto. Dr. Keyfier moved thot the rcsolatioos ho ad opted separately, and epoke for a few minotee .& fiiogularly happy and effective manner, lie aaid it struck him with astonishment that men ■who had no personal interest in tbe atter should interfere to alter a law with which all were satisfied. It looked too much like os if they were disposed to infringe on rights, which he, qs an American citizen, would never allow to bo trifled with. So long oa he lived under the folds of the flag of his country, would he endeavor to preserve those privileges guaranteed to all good citizens. Catholics were as patriotic and loyal as Protestants—ready at all times to .take up arms in defence of thoir country, when called upon, and those who pay to the contrary utter a wicked slander. As the Doctor warmed with his subject ho grew truly eloquent, and was repeatedly interrupted with burets of applause. The Doctor was followcd.by Mr. John N. Me- Clowry, who said he came there to help to burl hack the'slanders which bad been raised against tho Catholics, to whom it wuu an insult to ask the Legislature to preserve their rights. Mr. John J, Mitchell next Bpoke, brlffly al luding to the objects of the bill before the Legis lature, and saying it had been introduced not by tho friends, but the enemies of Catholics. •Mr. Q. B. L. Fetterman entered his solemn protest against the passage of the bill, because i: interfered with sacred rights. Ho hoped this meeting would cauao the Legislature to take ano ther view of tho matter, and prevent them from passing tbe bill. Mr. P. Kerr, a gentleman from Clarion coun ty, said it was time enough to pass such a bill when it was called for by those interested. Mr. Luke Taaffe also spoke for a few minutes in a witty and earcastic«manner, and elicited much laughter. A motion was then mad • that tbe resolutions should be sent to Harrisburg by a special mes senger, which, however, wau subsequently with drawn. After the transactions of some other business of slight importance, the meeting uojjurned. 5Ve would-direct attention to the list of valu able stocks and splendid residences on Penn street, to be sold this evening, at 7J o’clock, at the Merchant's Exchange, Fourth street, by P. Mb* No artlclo of a similar kind, now before the public, enjoys a better reputation as a restorative sud invigora ting hair toolo. Its peculiar chemical qualities have a beneficial effect upon the growth and character of the hair, giving a silky and glossy texture to that which was former ly of a coarse and dry nature. It has also a tendency to preserve the youthful color and appearance of the hair, and destroying or counteracting the effects of ego. With such recommendations in Its favor, we hardly perceive how any lady or gentleman should bo without fo valuable an adjunct to the toilet. Persons who have used it from the age of Bixty-four down, declare it to be the most perfi-ct ar ticle to secure the object intended ever yotproduced. Gray hair, whether produced by the slow progress of time, or by any of the causes which whiten the locks prematurely, is restored to a healthy, lively appearance, and all the disa. greeahle effects of dry ness, the accumulation of dandruff or like impurities, are removed. From the Editor of the Real Estate Advertiser, 27 School et Boston, March 20,1804 Peof. Wood: Dear Sir—Having become prematurely quite gray, I was Induced seme tis weeks since, to make trial of your Hair Restorative. 1 have used less than two bottles, but the gray hairs have ail disnppeared; and al though my hair has not fully attained its original odor, yet the process of change is gradually going qji, and I have great hopes that, in a short time, my hair will bo as dark ai formerly. I bavo also been much grauQed at the healthy moisture and vigor of the half, which before was harsh and dry, and it has ceased to come out as formerly. Rcspoctfully Yours, D. C M Rupp. PRC?. Wood: Dear Sir—My hair commencol falling off iome three or four years gince.ond cooiinut-d tn do so until I became quite bald. I tried all the popular remedies of the doy, but to no effect; at last I was induced to use your cel ebrated Hair Restorative, and am very happy to eav it is dolog wonders, t.hnve now a fine growth of youns hair, and cheerfully recommend its use to all similarly afflicted. A. C. Williamson, 133 Second street. St. Louis, March 7 th, 1854. Carltle, 11L, June 27th, 1853. I have used Prof. 0. J. Wood’s Hair Restorative, and have admired its wonderful effect. My hair was becoming, as I thought, prematurely gray, but by the use of his Restora tive, it has resumed its original color, and, I have no doubt, permanently so. Stdnet Urexse, Ex-Senator, United Stales. Vincennes, Indiana, June 15ch, 1853. Prop. 0. J. Wood: Dear Sir—-As you am at out to manu fecture extensively and Tend your recently discovered Hair Restorative, I will state, for whomsoever it may concern, that I have usnd It, and known others nr-o it; that I have for eoveral years becu in the habit of using other Hair Re storatives, and that I find yours-vastly superior to aoy other I know. It entirely cleanses the band of dandruff, and with one month’s proper us- will restore any person’s hair to the original youthful color und texture, giving it a healthy, roft, and glof-uy appearance, and all ihU without discoloring the hands that apply it, or r n wLlch' it drop*. I would, therefore, recommend its use to every not* de.-irous of baring a fine color und texture to hair. Respectfully yours, Wilson Kino. For sale by 0. J. WOOD A CO., Proprietors, Ct>s Broad way.
