tweentwo parties from this city, yesterday morn,
teg, te wtiich a young man named Wm Richey was
seriously, if not fatally Injured, by another yonng
fellow oalled Henry Basha. It appears that the
party to wbioh Riohey belonged were having a
danee at Parchment's tavern. About four o’clock
k In the morning, Basha, in company with John
Braddook and Thomas Marpby, oamo along in a
Sleigh* and demanded admission. This was re
fused, when they began to behave in a very dis
orderly manner, and attempted to force an en
trance. A personal scuffle then ensued, and in
the fight Basha polled out a loaded pistol, which*
be discharged at his opponents." The ball took
effeot in the abdomen of Richey, near the right
groin, infltoting a dangerous wound. After the
perpetration of this outrage, Busb'a, Morphy,
and Braddock jumped into their eleigh And drove
before any of them oould be arrested. Bub
- • sequently, information of the occurrence was

, into onstody by officer Moon. He was commit
ted to awast the result of Uiohey's injury.
Braddodrend Murphy havo not yet been ar
tseted, but the polioe are on the alert, and no
doubt will oapture them.
Biohey was brought into town, and placed un
der the care of Dr. M'Gook, who pronounces the
wound very serious, but still entertains hopes
that it will not prove fatal.

sury Department has beon informed that judg
ment has been rendered in the Circuit Court
of Texas.ag&inst Joseph Bates, late Marshal of
that State, for $20,000 due the United Slates.
The Star says that Mr. Gibson denies the au
thenticity of the letter lately published, and
says that it is a garbled statement of a memo
rial to the Dutch government. Mr. Qibson in
timates that Mr. Maroy aoted in bal fa'th with
him from the firßt.
Railroad Accident
Cincinnati, Jauuary 31.—The down Irain, on
the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad, ran off the
track yoaterday near North Bend. Two paeßrn
gcr and baggage cars were smashed, and a aum
ber of passengers wers injured, but none seri
ously. The brakesman was badly hu’rt.
