Mr. Houston, from the some committee, re ported a bill making appropriations for fortifica tions, and other works of defence, and the re pairs of barracks and quarters for a period. Both were referred to the Committee of the Whole on the state of the Union. The House then went into Committee of the Whole on the state of the Union, on business pertaining to the District of Columbia. Various bills relating to the District of Co lumbia were considered, but not finally acted on. Mr. Bliley gave notice of Ma inteotion to move the taking up of the French Spoliation Bill on the 16th of January next.
