We know the prejudice that exists in this community against performances of this character, from the circumstance that too Many of the.bands of negro - minstrels who ex hibit here have, for their whole stook in trade, nothing but an unlimited quantity of obscene jokes and stale and worn-out witticisms, which are retailed out, night after night; to persons similar in character to themselves. But as te garde the Metropolitans, the case is different ; the members of the Troupe are all skillful and original performers, and gentlemen, who will cot indulge in double entendres of any kind, for the purpose of exalting a laugh from the vitiated and depraviil. Their jokes and witticisms aro new and good, as the constant laughter of an appre ciative audience testifies, while their vocal and instrumental music exhibit that it comes from well educated and scientific musicians. The Troupe give another performance to-night at the same place, which we hope to see crowded. DIBTEICIT Cotter.—Before Hon. H. W. Wil liams, Associate Judge. Smithen A. Bell vs. L& A. Mr. Itrodheetri considered it entirely immaterial whether the bill had been lost or now came up no undulated busi ness. The money intended to be appropriated by the bill being due, had been paid by the department to the parties entitled to it, out of some unexpended balances in its hands belonging to the Cann Mal service.
