Burglart.— The boldest burglary we have heard of for some time was perpetrated on Son day night, at the hooae of a man named Walsh, on the corner of Webster and Crawford streets. Tbe burglar, or burglars, (for there appears to hare been several of them,) made an openiog through the foundation of the building, by taking out the stones of whioh it was eomposed, aod thus effecting an entrance* into the basement. Considerable time must have been ooeopied in taking ont the stones, at a hole large enough for a man to creep through was made. However, their trouble appears to have been unrewarded, as all the booty secured was fifty cents in small change, whioh had been left in a drawer. Accidbht at thv Cathedral.— An accident of a serious, and perhaps fatal oharaeter occur red yesterday afternoon, at the Catholio Cathe dral, on Grant street. A man named Thomas Anderson, whilst elevated upon a scaffolding, painting the outside of the ohurch, fell from his seat to a roof below, a distance of about twen ty-five feet, in his fall breaking both arms at the wrists, and reoeiviog severe contusions on the head. He was taken into Dc,- Walters’ office, where his injuries were dressed. Afterwards he was oonveyed to hie residence in Allegheny. Tbe unfortunate man’s injuries are of suoh a char acter, that but little hopes of his reoovery are entertained. CholVra iv Jail— Jasper Newton, a colored man, incarcerated in the jail for assault and bat tery, was attacked yesteiday morning with chol era, and.removed to Passavant’B Infirmary. He is not expected to survive. John Hughes, imprisoned in the same place, was also taken down with the cholera, and re moved to the Infirmary. John Streets, who was taken to Passavant’s Infirmary a few days ago, from the jail, suffering from cholera, we are informed, has sinoe died In that institution. Railroad Accidxnt. Yesterday morning about 3£ o’clock, the Express train on the Ohio Pennsylvania Railroad was thrown off the track by coming in contact with two cows, a short dir tance below Coutney’e station. We are pleased to say, however, no one was injured, although the cars were considerably damaged. The pas wagers were sent up to the city in another train. The aocident caused the mail train to be de tained two hours beyond the usual time of her departure. Injured. — A lad riding along Pennsylvania avenue, on Saturday, was struck on the head by a stone, thrown from a crowd of boys on Boyd’s Bill, (who were quarreling with another crowd on tbe street below) and badly injured. We mentioned some time ago, tbe custom the boys from Pipe town had of throwing stones from the top of the hill at the urchins below, and it has now existed long enough to call for the interference of the police. ArrKMpnt) Scicid*. —A mu named Samuel McKelry, residing on Pennsylvania Avenue, in the Eighth Ward, attempted to commit suicide on Sunday by shooting himself. Fortunately for himself, his aim vas not sufficiently steady, and the ball passed through his neck in such a manner as to put his life in no particular dan ger.
