Earroa :—The Irish gentleman that has control of the local columns of the Dispatch, this morning makes statements in that paper rather derrogatory to the character of the ushers of the Pittsburgh Theatre, for no other reason than that they attended too strictly in keeping their private boxes clear of those who were not entitled to seats in them. He states that the Theatre was very much crowded during the week of our State Fair; which is very true, so much so that a great many could not obtain seats, and many ladies and gentlemen had eith er to leave the house or stand during the per formance. The ushers of course had no small share of the disagreeable annoyance of keeping seats for those who had engsged them daring the day. Our private boxes were also filled with those who paid for seats in them. This fellow, not being satisfied with being on the " free list," but, with all the impudence which is character istic of the local reporter of the Dispatch, shoves his way into one of the private boxes. Ile was informed by one of the ushers that he could not have a seat in this box"; this warning he dine gardedso both ushers ascended to the box, and informed him that it was the Manager's orders that none but those engaging seats In these box es could have them. His reply was, "that he did not care a d—m what the Manager's orders were —he had the seat and would keep it." Which he did throughout the performance. The above is correct statement of what took place between Mr. O'Neil and the ushers of the Pittsburgh Theatre ; and no person, an say, un less they, like himself, took an engag ed Beat, that they bad one word from either of the • USHERS.
