The Cenens—Ameries and the mother Country
Mr. Kennedy, the superintendent of the cen
sus, states in his report that the largest portion
of the topics embraced in the last census ie
ready for publication, while the remainder will
not delay the.printing. In this document, says
the Boston Post, an immense amount of beams
dart is presented relative to the present state of
Young America, and its population, productive
powers, educational establishments, criminal
statistics, and other things. Among other facts,
it presents a comparison of the growth of popu
lation here with that in the mother coutltry.—
Here, for the last sixty years, the increase has
been about three and a half per cent. per an
num, for the whole period. But in the mother
country, singularly enough, no enumeration of
the population of Ireland was made until 1818,
