Conner's Inquests. —ACoroncr’s inquest was' held yesterday morning, on the body of Mrs. M’Neal, who was found drowned in the Alleghe ny river, near Coleman & Hailman’s rolling mill. After examining witnesses, tho jnry re turned a verdict that the deceased came to her death by. drowning,' while laboring under mental troubles. Tho Coroner also held on inquest on the body of Wm. Solens, who was accidentally drowned on Saturday evening last, near the St. Clair, street bridge. Tho body was found near Seven Mile Island, and the jury returned a verdict of acci dental drowning. ___ Editorial Charge.— Eev. Hoiren S. Ci.uii;, D. D., has been chosen by the Qehcral Confer eneo, of tho charch, editor of the Pittsburgh Christian Adcocale. Mr. Clark, is a very tal ented gentleman, and was, fora number of years, President of tho Allegheny College, at Meadville, Pa. Rev. Wm. Hunter, the present editor, re tires to a form in Virginia, and will again re same his ministerial office.. Mysterious Disappearance.—On. Friday morn ing, about eight o’clock, a girl named Mary Hep-1 barn, who was hoarding atahonss on Robinson | street, near Darragh street, Allegheny city, and learning her trade with ■ Mrs. Hare on. Isabella street, disappeared very suddenly without tho knowledge of her friends. No tidings have as yet, been ascertained as to her whereabouts. Surety of the Peace. —George Hartman, of Bir mingham, was committed to prison, on Monday evening, on oath of Mogdelane Hartman, his wife, charged with making threats, calculated to disturb the peace of mind of his spouse. He was nrrested and brought before Esquire Patterson, of the above borough, who committed him. Attempted Suicide.— A young girl attempted to commit suicide on Mondoy morning, at Owstou’B F.xchongo, on St Clair street, by jumping out of the window, while laboring under an attack of convulsions. She was secured, and medical aid called in. She is now doing well. Larceny. —Charlotte Ford was committed to prison yesterday, by Aid. Thompson, of the 7th Ward, to answer, before the Court of Qaarter Sessions, two charges of -larceny, preferred againßt her by Doloy Davis and Mary Ruther ford. Burglary . —Tho dwelling of Mr. Joseph Sprat ley, a journeyman shoemaker, residing in the Second Ward, Allegheny city, was entered on last Saturday night, and near tea dollars taken from his pantaloons, which were in his sleeping room.. Discharged.-^ Ernest Wagner, sent to prison a short time since for assault and battery with intent to Jail, committed on the person of a Ger man in Bayards town, a few weeks since, was dis charged yesterday, the matter having been com promised. Wednesday Pachei. —The regular paoket steam er Cincinnati, leaves this morning, at 11 o'clock, for the Queen city. Wright was appointed on the committee on officers to represent Pennsylvania,- and Zadook .Pratt to represent New York. A warm and exciting debate ensued on a pro-, osition to exclude alternates, and all delegates over the nnmber to which each. State is entitled, and little progress was made with business. Twodaimantsforaeatsfrom Georgia presented credentials before the Committee, and advocated their respective claims. * Not half-the delegates were seated, and hun dreds were, on the floor who had no right to be there.- Virginia has 120 delegates; Mississippi, 46; other States immense.numbers. . Lord Wornoliffe accompanied by Reverdy Johnston wore-among the spectators, and were admitted, by courtesy, upon the Btage. Atone o’clock, P. M., a sharp debate arose on the question allowing supernumerary delegates to have a seat. Resolved, That two-thirds of tho whole num bor of votes given shall bo necessary for the nomination of candidates for President and Vico President of the United States, by this Conven tion. - Resolved, That, in voting on any question that may arise in tjia proceedings of this Convention, tho vote shall bo taken by States at the request of any member of anyone State, each State to be entitled to tho number of votes which each is entitled to in tho next electoral college, without regard ta the number of delegates in attendance. Tho manner in which said vote is to be cast, to bo decided by the delegates of each State by it self. After the reading of the report of the commi tee, all of it, with tbe exception of that portion ; relative to tho two-third act, wos, on motion of Mr. Albnrton; concurred in. . ' Mr. Aspratt, of Ohio, said that tins rale vras adopted at the last Democratic Convention, and ie it how to be forced, on this, in derogation of the right that the majority shall rule? As long, ho said, as wo have the two-third rale, a minor ity can play round until they force the majority into their Views. For this reason I made the motion to reject it. ■ . , , : A motion was made and earned to lay the mo tion of the gentleman from Ohio on tho table, and the two-thirds: mlo was then adopted.
