Objection be, ing made, Mr. Carter called for the yeas and •nays, which were ordered. KOSSUTH AT WASHINGTON. Washibqton, Dec. 30. The distinguished Hungarian, Louis Kossuth, arrived here about 11 o’clock this morning, and was met at the railroad station by Messrs. Shields and Seward, of the Senate Committee, and conducted to Brown’s Hotel, from whioh are displayed the Hungarian, Swiss, Italian, Ger man and Turkish flags, with the American flag floating from the parapet. Upon his arrival the cheers of, the crowd oalled out Kossuth upon the balcony, where he bowed to the people and re tired. Mr. Webster will call npbn him dnnng the day, and set spsrt a day for his introduction to the President. Subscription lists are in circulation for a grand banquet to Kossuth, at five dollars a ticket. FURTHER FROM CALIFORNIA. y? New York, Deo. 29, Captain Waterman, of the ship Challenge, had surrendered himself to the authorities of the United States. An investigation of the oharges against him is to be had. The boundary commissioners were at Tueson on the 20th of Ootober, and would move the next day towards the Gila. There is a great rush of miners from the riv ers and cities to the dry diggings. There is a probability of a general war be tween the Southern Indians and the whites. Several murders had been committed by Indians ou the Colorado. Robberies were bold and fre quent. KOSSUTH.
