The car dashed on over the plat form, in among some little children who were playing below it, injuring four of them very seriously, three of them perhaps fatally. Their names are McCabe, Kunkle, Bryer and Baldwin. Since the above was in type, we learn that the child named Kunkle has died. The others are not expected to turvive. 1:66. Adams Co.'s Express is deserving of great praise: - The promptness and rapidity with which they transact business, has given them an enviable reputation, wide-spread, in the east and south; and, through.the indefatigable exertions of Robert Forsyth, the active agent of the west ern business, at this place, they are rapidly growing in favor. Agricultural Fain—The Annual Fair which commences this morning, in the Diamond in Allegheny City, promises to lie a most splendid affair. Not only the products of our farmers, but the skill and handiwork of our Pittsburgh mechanics and artists, will be on exhibition. On to-morrow the products of the farm will be exhibited, and on Thursday manufactured arti cles, Ac. Theatre.—The entertainment for to-night is the beautiful operatic Drama of Guy Manner ing ; and we have no doubt it will draw a full house, for it will be well represented. Mrs. J. Vickery will sustain the character of Meg Mer lilies, and she has a good opportunity of dis playing her fine Dramatic talent Mr. C. Fos ter/ is excellent as Dandle Dinmont ; and all the subordinate characters will be well sustained. GEORGIA ELECTION. CHARLESTON, October 7 For Governor, members of Congress, &c., we have but few returns. Bebb county, in the 3d Congressional District, gives David J. Bailey, the Southern Rights candidate for Congress, 60 majority. Harrison, Merriweather, Floyd, Pike and De Kalb counties give majorities for the Union ticket. By an arrival to-day from Malaga, we learn that that place was visited by a tremendous storm of rain on the 31st of August, which de stroyed great quantities of fruit, and prices in consequence have been enhanced. FROM SALT LAKE News from Salt Lake City to the 19th of Au gust has been received. A company of packers, 14 in number, were attacked on the 9th of August on the Fort Hall road, by about 50 Indians, supposed to be Snake and half breeds. They were fired at from willow bushes', and six men fell dead at the first fire. Eight of the packers 'were killed, and the remaining six suc ceeded in escaping to the train in the rear. This company was called the Molina company, from Illinois. The Indians took about $2OOO worth of provisions, together with 12 horses and about $lOOO in cash. SAILING OF THE CHEROKEE. NEW YOUR, October 7. The steamer Cherokee sailed to-day for Cha.- gres, with 120 passengers. The Prometheus also sailed for San Juan, with a large number of passengers. Among the prisoners sent from Havana to Spain, in the brig Ripa, were Gen. S. Berry of Cincinnati, Preston Essex of St. Louis, J. B. Yarmouth of Nashville, Louis Nagle of Missouri, John Seifert of Indiana, John Johnson of Ken tucky, John A. Powers of Bardstown, Ky., and George Freeborn of Ohio. FROM HAVANA. NEW YORK, October 7. The Empire City, from Havana, brings 120 passengers and $3&0,000 in gold. Among the passengers is Capt. Robt. A. Ellis, of Washington, one of the American prisoners who was liberated by the Captain General a few hours before the steamer sailed, and conveyed on board under guard. Thirteen prisoners still remain in the hospital, and would he sent to Spain as soon as sufficient ly recovered. PACIFIC RAILROAD An election was held in this city yesterday, to authorize the County Court to subscribe $lOO,- 000 additional to the Pacific Railroad. The ma jority for the subscription in six wards is from 10 to 12 but the Fifth Ward will increase this majority considerably. FROM TEXAS The Revolutionists are quiet. No advance has been made from Camargo. Gen Abalos is fortifying Matamoras. He has only 500 men. The women and children were leaving for Brownsville. Abalos now proposes to take off some exactions on commerce. ARCTIC EXPEDITION. NEW Yotr, October 7 The brig Rescue, the second vessel of the Arctic Expedition. sent out by Mr. Grinnel in search of Sir John Franklin, arrived at Brook lyn Navy Yard this morning. FIRE IN LOUISVILLE. LOUISVILLE October 7 The Brook Street Methodist Church, one or two frame houses, and a stable, were destroyed by fire this evening. Loss :$15,000. We learn that a terrible affray occurred in the Court House, at Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on the 30th, in which John Kirby. an old and respecta ble citizen, was shot with his own pistol, by Frederick P. Hall, with whom he had a law-suit. Mr. K. died almost instantly. One of the by standers was shot in the leg. and a juryman was slightly injured. Hall immediately surrendered himself. Yesterday morning, Richard Thomas, an ap prentice in the "Richmond Dispatch," was stabbed and killed by another boy, named Win. Cutlitr, formerly of Baltimore, who managed to escape.
