Equinoxial Storm. —We have had, for the last
month, continual dry, warm weather; bnt yes
terday the regular “ equinoxial Storms” set in,,
mnch to the gratification of all classes of citi
zens. The” riser men who are anxiously look

and wilted segetation have operated injuriously
to his pecuniary interests, how begins to hope
fora “good.time coming.” The "equinoxial
storms” are later than usual this season, but it
is to be hoped that their effects will be bene

Suicide.—Last evening Peter Miller, who had
been attached to Dan Rice’s Circus, as a drum
mer, went with a friend to Stacey’s and called
for ice cream. While his friend was eating, he
observed that Miller was fumbling with a paper,
under the table, but supposed it was a bank note.
It was the envelope of a vial of laudanum, which
Miller sw.allowed unobserved, and which, not
withstanding oil exertion was made to B&ve him,
caused his death in about two hours. Rumor
says that love had something to do with the
affair. —Cleveland Sept. 19.
Farmers mare your own Candles. —Take
twelve pounds of alum for every ten poonds of
tailow, dissolve it in water before the tallow is
put in, and then melt the tallow in the alum wa
ter, with frequent stirring, and it will clarify
and harden the tallow, so as to make a most
beautiful article, for either the winter or sum
mer use, almost os good as sperm.
If the wick be dipped in spirits of turpen
tine, the candles will reflect a much more bril
liant light.

S. F. Bennett 4* Co.—Gems : It is with great pleasure
that 1 write 10 you about the very happy effect of your
Yellow Dock ui;d Sarsaparilla upon my son. who has
long been suffering uuJer that dreadful, loathsome dis
ease, Erysipelas, with which be was attacked in ISIS,
aud was for several months attended by some of our best
physicians, who tried their skill perseveringly for five «
months, without any beneficial effects whatever. .He
become reduced to a perfect skeleton. He had ulcers
from nis hip down to his knee, which were continually
dischargiugoffensive naatier. Medical and surgicolskilL
was battled. Physicians say that his case was hopeless
—there could be nothing done to airest those terrible
gangrening ulcers. My neighbors and 'myself thought
his dissolution near at hand. One of ray neighbors, who
had cured a child of scrofula with your invaluable medi%
cine, wished rae to make a trial of it. and more from the
restless desire to do something while life lasted, than
from nay hono of getting relief I procured three boules
of your 1 Yellow Dock tuid Sarsaparilla," and commenc
ed using it, and to my astonishment lie commenced to
improve before he had used the third bottle, aud before
he aad used half a dozen boules he could walk out. He
used in all twelve boules during the year 5 49, and by
October last be was perfectly restored; every vestige of
the disease except the scars was removed, and he re
mains in perfect health up to the present time. His re
covery, under the blessings of God, is entirely owing to
the use of your Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla, and 1 as
sure you that I feel myself under great obligations to
you, and it is with great joy that I inform you of what
your Sarsaparilla has done for my son
