Murphey has opened a new variety store, at No. 61 Wood street, immediately under the City Lecture Room. He has for sale a large and beautiful .stock of Trimmings,. Notions, Fancyi and Va nety-Gooda. As the Western ‘merchants will shortly be visiting our city to make their fall purchases,, we recommend them to call in at Mr. Murphey’s store, and examine his stock. Horticultural Exhibition. —The Horticultural Society met yesterday at the Board of Trade Rooms, when the committee on Finance report ed that they had secured Masonic Hall for an exhibition on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thurs day, the 16th, 17th and 18th inst. There ib, we understand, to be a grand display of fruits and flowers, and a band of music will be m at tendance. Hate —Fall Pashvms. —C. H. The Allegheny Bridge Case. —Mr. Alden, coun sel for Relator, made a motion yesterday in the Supreme Court for an injunction to prevent the corporation from disposing of any of its corpo rate property, and to appoint a receiver and toll collectors. The matter will be taken up at a fu ture day. Mayor Fleming sent up two more com mitments, yesterday, against Alex. Woods, and one against Mary Woods, his wife, for stealing butter from market. BSBU At a party, the night before last, on Coal Hill, there was a considerable muss, in which several of the guests were badly beaten, and others saved themselves by making their exit out of the window. BCft- The alarm of fire night before last was caused by the burning of Richardson's cap store on Market street, near Third. The flames were quenched before any material damage was done. Aid. Lewis yesterday committed Edward Courtney, in default of $lO fine, for a breach oi the peace. Skeep Stealing. —A man named Jos. Buchanan was committed by Mayor Guthne for stealing some 48 sheep. v E©, The Mayor of Allegheny City yesterday held a colored man to b&tl on a charge of bur glary. David Jones was committed from Birm ingham, by Aid- Woods, for an assault and bat tery on his wife. A little boy named Temme fell in the Canal Basin yesterday, ana was nearly drowned.
