The accounts from Italy mention that a dis covery had taken place at Venice and Verona, of a formidable conspiracy to assassinate the Emperor, and massacre all the Austrian officers. Several of the parties implicated had been ar rested. We learn from Madrid that the King insists on his nomination for Governor of the palace, which is supposed will lead to a ministerial -crisis. ENGLAND. From the Kingdom of Great Britain there is little news, beyond a large amount of crime and accident. The advices from the Cape of Good-Hope state that the Governor, is compelled to remain quiet in the the native tribes, until rein orcements arrive. The receipts of the exhibition had perceptibly diminished by the continuous intense heat of the weather. Tho building which has been used by the House of Commons since the fire of 1835, is now being torn down. The Commons will permanent ly occupy the now house on its next Session. DEMOCRATIC CONTENTION. CUBAN MEETING. Louisville, August 28. A large Cuban meeting was held last night, and another comes off to-night. Similar meet ings are being held in the interior towns. Baltimore, August 27. The Richmond papers state that Alfred Bart lett, of Grayson Co., having lately been mur dered by the Negroes, and John Clements dan gerously wounded, the .citizens of Wythre have held meetings, and resolved to expel from South- Western Virginia, all the pretended Missionaries hailing from the free States, who have preached Abolition dootrines. Philadelphia, Aug. 28. There was a large Cuban sympathy meeting held last evening at'Jerßey City. The meeting called at Washington was so slimly attended that no organization took place. It is reported to-day on the authority of a dis patoh from New Orleans, that the Spanish Con sul has been killed, but it is greatly doubted.— He was formed in effigy on the night of the 23d. Philadelphia, Aug. 28. The N. Y.
