Vinton, Thomas Ewing, Hiram M. Griswold and Win. P. Cutter wore severally named as candidates for Governor. Ewing and Griswold were withdrawn, when: the result of the voting was as follows For Vinton 0 12 For Cutter 38 and Vinton was declared nominated. The votes for Cutter were principally from the Western Reserve. The Convention took a recess until 2 o,clock, Arun:mos SESSION.—The Convention re-as sembled at 23 o'clock. A resolution appointing a committeo of 21 on Resolutions, was taken up. Mr. Sherman advocated its adoption at some length, on the ground that it was duo to the Whig party that the Convention should make some declaration of principles. Ile thought it was understood that such a committee should be appointed, and was surprised to hear opposition to it. A motion to lay on the table and amendment thereto, were respectively lost. Stanberry for Attorney General. John Woods for Auditor of State. After several other nominations, the Conven tion took a recess unel 8 o'clock. ACCIDENT ON THE OCEAN. Bosrort, July 2. The ship Frank Johnston, from Havana for St. Petersburg, put in hero to-day, short of pro visions. She reports the ship Sally Frew, from New Orleans for Liverpool, as having been struck by lightning when 12 days out; and burned to the water's edge. The F. Johnston took her crew and passenfiers, and $lOO,OOO in specie. The Republic of this morning announces that the Department has already issued a million and a half of postage stamps, and is sending them out nt the rate of 4000 per day. The Philadel phia manufacturer is making between • 800,000 and 400,000 daily, and will soon be able to man ufacture asufficient supply for the whole coon trY.
