COIHITEREEiITICO-4HPOETAHT AIIHESTB BY THE Acucar:lry Poitcr.--Two men named Rebt. Cur rison and Thomas Scott, were yesterday arrested in Allegheny city for passing and manufacturing bogus money.- The citeutnatanCe which led to their des tection was very singolar; , , A' few days since Jack son Currison, a brother , of Robert's, was arrested and committed for passing bogus moneyin the coup. try, and. it appears that on Wednesday night _Robert Currison and Thomas Scott were returning to Alle. gheny'citi from a similar tour, when their horses look fright and threw them. The horses came on 1 to the city and were taken up by the police. Yes- . terday morning they called at the Mayor's office for their hersca...One of the police officers remarked the striking resemblance of one of them to Jacktion Curriaori, and told the Mayor he thought it was him. The Mayor had the man brought in and searched, when they found a receipt 'in his pocket book for making this money. Immediately a search warrant was issued, and the premises of Thomas Scott, on Liberty street, Allegheny, was sealched,.whero a large press, the crucibles, dies, and a large amount of the bogus was fotimb with 8140 in half dollars of their own manufacture. There is_ no , doubt but there is a large gang of these fellows infesting our neighborhood, and the. Mayor of Allegheny city and his police deserve great credit for their vigilance and ingenuity in thus bringing to justice some of the offenders, which, in all probability, will lead to the detection of otherii. They wily have another hear. ing to-day. . Esrerrsive-Arn DAIIII4O ROBBERY.—John Thom: as, on Beaver street, Allegheny city, perhaps the most extensive boot and shoe dealer in she place, was yesterday•arrested under the following-eircum stances : John Parker, a boot and shoe dealer in Al legheny city, has been dealing rather extensively with a firm in the, East for some time,.and here, lately, on several occasions, he has seen boots of the same manufacture purchased in Pittsburgh at a much lower price - than he could afford to sell them nt. A few daysaince one of this Eastern firm came on to this city, when Parker met him and asked him how it came that he sold to others at:a lower price. The gentleman. deniedhaving done eo, and further stated that he never sold at any, price to the. House . which Parker 'mentioned. They accordingly went to this House and examined the stock—and that of his man's tnanufacture was found to contain Par ker's private mark ; trpon belpg asked where he obs tabled this stock, the man replied that he had pur chased it from Mr. Thomas, of Allegheny city.— , Therthen proceeded to Mr... Thoma s, and found a lot of boots - and shoes with Parker's' -private mark. The mystery was inanaedirtely solved. Information was made before . the Mayor, and Thodas was immediately arrested. About 62,000 i worth of boots, shoes and leathre, belonging to Per i ker and E,L. Mackintosh, (another dealer in Alle gheny city,) were . found on his premises, besides a number of skeleton keys and, other burglar's tools. This man Thomas has about forty men in his em ploy, working up his neighbors' stock,. and in all probability could afford to sell much cheaper than they. He has been stealing . these articles for the last six mnetbs.' . - We understand that he has already served a term in the Penitentiary, and is again at bis old business. Ho will have Another hearing .to-day.
