HOG MARKET.
CINCINNATI, Nor. 16, 1849
Mos— The weather continues unfavorable,and
there were comparatively few Hogs 'slaughterd or
cut to-day. The onlysales heard of, were 581 head
(sold yesterday,) average 195 Ha, at $2,50, and a
premium, making it equal to near $2,60; 500 head
heavy Kentucky at 2,75, with some conditions at
tached, and 398 average 185 IN, at $2,57 ip 100 Ihs,
net.
Lowent.tz, Nov. lb, 1849
Iloos--During the week we bate beard of sales of
5,700 bead at $2,50 net. In the pens there are sev
eral fair droves not yet disposed of. The weather
is quite too warm for slaughtering, and drovers are
bolding back. Tee demand for hogs is active at the
price tquotcd, and we anticipate that an unusual
heavy number of begs will be put up here this
season.
MADISON, lA, November 13, 1849
Pang—Owing to the warmth of the weather, but
little has been done in the way of slaughtering. The
price is still unsettled. We hear of sales at $1,7 , 50
$2, the latter being paid for a lot of heavy hogs on
Monday last. At $2 the offerings would be abun
dant, but farmers are very reluctant to take less.
Hocs—We have not heard of a single stale of hogs .
since Friday last. The weather continces unusually
-warmlor'theseasorri - and dealers manifest little anx
iety to purchase, and holders seem as little disposed
to sell.

CHINESE HAIR CREAM—A matchless article for
growth, beauty, and restoration of the Hair. This
Cream, when once known, will supersede all other arti
cles of the kind now in use. Where the hair is dead,
harsh, thin, unhealthy, uor turning grey, a few applica
tions will make the hair soft and dark, and give it a beau
tiful, lively appearance; and will also make it maintain
its liveliness and healthy color, twice as long as all the
preparations that aregenerally used. Where the hair is
thin, or has fallen off, it may be restored by using the
Cream. Every lady and gentleman who is in the habit of
using oils on their halt should at once purchase a bottle of
the Chinese Hair Cream, as it is so composed that it will
not injure the hair like the other preparations, but will
beautify it, and give perfect satisfaction In every in
stance.
For testimony to its very superior qualities, see the fol
lowing letter from the Rev. Mr. Caldwell to Mesrrs.
Hendershott & Stretch, Nashville, general agents for the
Southern States:
Letter Vast Rev. R. Cakitodl,
Church, H.
KETERS. Ebranzagsnorr 8 STILSTVII GENTLEMEN—I take
p.easure in adding my testimony in favor of the excellent
PreParElicb called Dr. Parish's Chinese Hair Cream; for,
about two years ago my hair was very dry, bristly, and
disposed to come out; but having procured a bottle of the
Cream, and used it according to Meprescription, it is now
elastic, soft, and firm to the head. Many balsams and
oils were applied, each leaving my hair in a worse state
than before. This Cream, however, has met my expec
tations. . _
As an article for the toilet, my wife gives it preference
Over all others, being delicately perfumed and not dis
posed to rancidity. The ladies, especially, will find the
Chinese Cream to be a desideratum in their preparations
for the toilet. Respectfully,lce.,
R. CALDWELL.

Mr. T. K. Ifibberr—Dept Sir: In *ply to. Your request -
to have my opinion relative to the quality of your Wri
ting Fluid, I may state that I have used it in my Institute
of Accountants for nearly a year; where I use none but
the best of Inks. It becomes a perfect black soon after
being written with, and hrsuitlible for any kind of pen,
but more particularly the metallic pen, which does not
clog with it as with common. ink. It writes well , upon
any kind of paper r and• on account of its Said property
writes better on parchment than any of the common
inks. I perceive what you have made recently is dark
er in color when first written with. This is a- decided
improvement, _particularly for book-keepers, who have
frequently to *rite with candle light. Your Red Ink is
decidedly the best of that kind of nomestio manufacture
that I hare tried ;—it will be found on trial in every res
pect equal to - Arnold's best English manufacture. Your
Machine Copy Ink leaves a good impression, and willbe
found worthy of a trial; but .I cannot myself speak ea
confidently of its propertiesas the others, nothavutg had .
the same experience in the use of it.
Very respectfully yours .. P. DUFF, "
