Duero viten it. siren's. Com:l.—By-neglecting those
salutary precautions which common svise dictates,
many, very =to. fall victims to their imprudence. We
have seen the young bride blooming as it were, as the
bird of paradise and the fair flower of hope, the pride of
herfather ond the joy of her mother—her cheek flushed
with anticipation. and her eye beaming with the POit
rz
pressiotf of love—the gay dreams of life dancing on her
fancy with the Tien and variegated tints of the rainbow's
promise. We have seen all this changed—aye, the wed
ding garment for a -shroud, and the bridal chamber for
this sepulchre of the dead ; and all this from neglecting a
common Cold. Now, before it is. too late, use Dr. Rogers'
Liverwort and.. Tar, which gives immediate relict, as
thousands of our most intelligent families now admit of
its most extraordinary cures. The guy, the beautiful and
the young,. speak forth its praise, and will, so long as it
makes positive cures, and cheers the despairing family
fireside.
Dr. Rogeti , Liverscort and Tar not only makes remark
able cures of Consumption but it Is warranted to break
.up the most distressing Cough in a few hours time, or the
money will be cheerfully retunded.

NEW ORLEANS MARKETS
CRESCENT °MEE,
Saturday Morning, Aug. 11, 18491
COTTON—We have once more advanced our
quotations, which, however, still fall rather short of
the asking rates. A bale einem cotton, the first re
ceived from Louisiana this season, came to hand on
Tuesday, and is represented to be of good staple
and color. The receipts at all the United States
ports now show an increase of 402,917 bales, while,
at this port there is a decrease of 87,037 bales, as
compared with the same dates last year.
SUGAR—Thougn the transactions in Sugar have
necessarily been light, prices have again improved,
and about 350 hhde. have found purchasers, prices
closing as follows: Inferior ;none,; common. 404,1;
fair, 4104 l; pnme, and choice, 41051. c. sir lb We
liecr also of nearly 300 hhds. sold on Plantation at
4i63 , 40 per lb.
MOLASSES—The transactions have been almost
entirely by retail, and with scarcely any variation
in prices, which range from 12017 c for inferior to
good, and 15320 e. per gallon for prime and choice.
FLOUR—In our last weekly report we mentioned
that the Flour market had been dull, the high point
which prices had reached having deterred biome
from operating, excepting in the most limited way
possible. Since that time the receipts hare rot
been large, but the depression and dullness have
rather decreased, the week's sales including some
2500 to 3000 bbls. closing at ssors 20 fur good
Illinois, Obio, etc., $b 50a6 fur extra, and occasion
ally for very choice St. Louis in store $6 2606 00
per bbl. Yesterday was very dull, and no sales of
any importance took place. Arrived past week,
3217 bbls. Exported, 1317 bbls.

MR. COPELAND, retmeeninly announces that the
duties of this establishment will be resumed(D. V,)
on Monday, September 3d, and that young gentlemen
have now an opportunity of being thoroughly and expe
ditiously qualified for the duties and requirements of
active life.
That the Principal is "not merely a sound scholar, but
also a judicious and most 'successful instructor' , must be
apparent, to any intejllgrnt and unbiassed mind, from
the number of honors and prizes obtained by him in
Trinity Cidlege,.Dublin ; from the testimonials received
from several of Its mast eminent Fellows and Professors:
and finally, from the satisfaction expressed by parents at
the proficiency made by his pupils.
For additional information as to the peculiar features
and advantages of this Institution see Prospectus, which
(with testimonials) can be procured from the PRINCI
PAL, at the Institute, or in Federal street, (opposite to

ENGLISH AND CLASSICAL ACADEMY.
(Rooms in the 3rd Presbyterian Church.)
TOD MILL ra I. nON DI4 DESIGNED TO BE PERMANENT.
THIS ACADEMY will be re-opened for the reception
of Lads and young Gentlemen, on the
First Monday . , the 3d Day of September.
The course of Study will embrace the common branch
es of an English Education, and the higher departments
of the English Sciences ; with the Latin, Greek. French
and German Languages.
Pupils can be thoroughly prepared to enter College
intelligently and unembarrassed. The course of study
for those not destined for College, is both comprehensive
and practical.
The government of the Institution will be mild, yet de
cided. Authority will always be sustained by reason and
affection; and to secure a proper regard to the general
government of the School, our process is, first, we en
deavor to convince the pupil that what we require is
reasonable ; next, that it secureshis own personal inter
est, as well as the good of the whole. Punishments for
misdemeanors when absolutely necessary, are of such a
nature, as to affect rather the mind than the body ; not as
satisfaction for the offence, but as a prevention to the
recurrence of similar offences; Having found this mode
of government preferable, it will be adopted in future.
Strictattention will be paid to the Physical, the Intel
lectual, and the Moral training of the inmates of this
School.
The Principal is happy to be able to announce to the
public, that he has secured the valuable services of Mr.
R. E. WILLIAMS, a graduate of Princeton, N. J. and Mr.
J. Baown, a graduate of Lafayette College, Ea ston, Pa.,
gentlemen of the highest literary and scientific attain
ments.
It is very desirable that Students should enter the
School at the commencement of the Session, in order
that the classes may be systematically and harmoniously
organized.
No deduction will be made for absence, except in ease
of protracted sickness.
Writing books, pens, ink, and all other stationary, will
be furnished at gle cents per session.
