S , 1810.,5" BUSINESS.—We have to notice ,a continued improvement in business matters during the past week. The hotels are crowded with strangers, principally merchants Irons the west, who are here making their fall purchases. The streets and wharves present a truly animating spectacle. Bu• siness men appear to be in the. very best spirits, and inform us that they have never known Pitts.' burgh to enjoy as great a degree of prosperity as at present. The rivers are in excellent order for steamboat navigation, and there - is a good deal of competition (always the life of business) amongst the owners of boats. The canal is also in excel lent condition. We present •below, a 'full, and' we natter ourselves, a very accurate, repor,t ,of the Pittsburgh market, for the past week. Dur.friends abroad may rely upon it.' • MONEY MARKET.—We are ifieased to be able to state that money cOntinues abundapt, and every department of trade: is flotiiishirOn..this section of our country. The bankl74Contin to discount all the good paper offered:land street brokers find nothing to do. Though currency is at, a low discount, lower indeed, than the cost of mak• ing exchanges, we see but very little of our Pitts burgh bank notes in circulation. Why is not some effort made to put these afloat? • .We do not like to observe so vast an amount of the ciirtln - tit etc; be Indiana bank notes. ' They may be very good but it does not look modest to see them every where, and upon all occasions. If the times ... were - , any Way squally, we should advise our friendslo "stand from under;" but the country is so generally pros perous, that there is little occasion to make croak ing predictions, even if one, felt the inclination.— We suppose we shall soon be greeted with a splen did lot of Allegheny city scrip, issued on account of their water works.
