The Captain, in going on shore, left the first Lieutenant in charge, who followed afterwards, leaving the boatswain in charge, who; at the time the accident happened, was engaged, with others on board, smoking. drinking, and play- ing cards. The accident occurred . from a spark! lighting on the powder, which -was placed oh the dem to be dried.
