Ligny . lirvtarrion.—lienly M. Paine, Esq., of
cOxford, Mass., has just compiebed the model of a
steantboat on au entirely new plan. The model is
some -tas-enty feet in length, says the Worcester
Transcript, and is found to exceeil the utmost ex
pectations that had been formed of its capacity.—
Mr. Paine is ennfident that on his principle, a speed
of 30 miles an hour may be.obtained. He has se
,cured'a patentfor his invention.
The CrilficleJuv, says the St. Louis Union, has
been sel4 4e Capt Beechman, for $4,000. She will
run in the Illinois river trade, nnd•be commanded
by Capt. Lusk.

states that the receipts of dour and wheat at tide
water, from the opening of navigation to tod in
cluding the first week of September, in 1545 awl

Flour.—From the present condition of the
market it is difficult to quote a price. The article,
with 'only moderate transactions, has been gradu
ally advancing, during the week, until both City
:Mills and Howard street have sold at s4,so—aud
-at close, holders are se straightened as either to be
- without a price, or have no flour to sell. The in
spections for the week comprise the following kinds
Auld quantities, viz: Howard street 5,550 bbls. and
50 half bbls.; Mills 4,963 bbls. and 379 half

bbls.; Susquehanna GO bbls.; Family Flour 238
bbls. Total, 10,834 bbls; and 429 half bbls.
There were also inspected 13 bbls. Rye flour, and
637 bbls. and 100 half bbls. Corn Meal.

There have been a number of sales to manufactur
era during the week, at the following
prices, viz :
7 mixed. 21a22 cents; No. 2, 25; No. 3, 23; No. 4,
_2l; commob tub washed 21; pulled 20; and fine,
— 28a373 cents, as in quality and condition.
Grain.—Wheat con tin ues to arrive very sparin '
ly, and price. in consequence have got up to 95
cents for red, and $1,20 for white. No Rye corn
ing forward. Corn has improved in demand and'
price, thO receipts being very light, and prices are
up to 63 and• 64 rents let .yellow., and 63 to 66 for
white. Oats have advanced RI S 2 cents, Govern
ment being again in the market.
Provisions.—We have not been able 6 reafn of
any transactions in Beef or Pork. Sales of Bacon
Save been free, but at tbrmer prices, viz: Shoulders
'from 3-3- to 4 cents; Middlings 5 to 5/; and Hams
6to 9, according to quality and sizes. There have
been considerable sales of lard, but mostly, we W
here, speculative, including bbls. at G to 61, and
.kegs at 7 cents per lb, cash. Moderate transac
tions in Western Butter at 8, and Ohio and New
England Cheese, the former at 7 to 8, and the lat
ter at S to S 3 cents.
