On last Thursday an Irish woman and two children were put off a western bound train of cars here, for the reason that her destination was Suubury, which she would not have reached by pursuing the direc tion of the setting sun. She had got off a train at Harrisbnrg, looked about the depot, And after some inquiry took a train that she supposed, or was informed, would go to Sunbury, but instead of taking another train, she really took the one she bad just left, with the result above stated. She was seut back to the connr ctton of the Northern Central, and it is presuable that she reached her des tination. She was quite indignant, and thought it very wrong that she had been sent into Pennsylvania' instead of Sun bury. A Remarkable Case. William Mover, the man who on the 24th of June last, was cut through the body with a scythe by an insane man named KInpp. near Adams-town, this county, is not only, still alite, but should inflammation not set iu, there is a prospect of his recover ing. The case is one of the most singu lar ones known to modern" surgery. The scythe entered the right side about two inches above the hip, and extended trans versely through the body in an upward direction until the point appeared in the left side below the arm pit. The wound at the cutrance was 51 inches iu length, and at thd terminus 1J inches long. Mover proceeded a short distance with the scythe extending through Lid body, and theu pulled it out, reeking with blood, unaided. The lube of the right lung was severed, and it was not expected that he could live more than a few hours To the surprise of all, his condition is uow favorable to his recovery, and his attending physician, Dr A. S. Raudeu bush, of Adamstown, has expressed the hope of being able to save his life Moy er has been perfectly conscious since the occurrence, speaks distinctly, and eats and eleens without difficulty. He is a a small man, and is of rather delicate ap pearance, although he must possess a superior constitution to have thus f;:r so well withstood the result of his wound His case is certainly a remarkable one, and well worth investigation by medical men. A despatch from Evaneville, in the latter State, as follows, may impart to the reader a tolerably fair representa tion of its ravages and the alarm it has awakened among the people : Evansville, July 20 A special de spatch from Mouut Veruon says there is little, if any, change in ibe cholera re ported, and to day six deaths occurred there and three near the subuibs. More than half the population have left the town, many hundreds of them coming to this city, and others are preparing to leave unless a favorable change occurs immediately. No pretence of business has been made there for several days and the city has a deserted and gloomy ap pearance. Physicians have arrived from several of the surrounding towns and are rendering all the assistance in their power. Among the deaths today was that of Dr. Matzedorf. a young German physi cian who; since the appearance of the epidemic, had been most active in efforts in behalf of the sick and dying. One man and his two daughters died, the last but one of a family of ten who have died of the scourge. An appeal has been made to the city for physicians and nurses, those already there having been worked down. Disinfection is well pro- greesing. uunng tne last wern cholera deaths have occurred in Evans ville. Two new cases . are reported to day, but no deaths. T" .
