Octraukocs Cos'di'ct: i.x Lack Township A F,w Shoot a Son' DV The Vi RetuVotrt hg Barling me rawer s ZUHjle ami Attempts to Bi the Home, and S'l hi Father to Shoot IHm. In Lack township there lives a man named Campbell Lie has a son named William. This son lived not far from the paternal home. About four weeks ago a number of hogs owned by the parent wandered into the immediate vicinity of William's bouse. A dog was put on the hogs and they chased away The father not liking the treatment his hogs received, concluded to remove the cause of any similar treatment from that ame source, by shooting the dog. - Ac cordingly he took down his rifle iud pursued the dog to a cornfield "where William was engaged iu hurking corn, and stated the ' object of Lis presence. The sou said the dog ahould not be thoj, aud proceeded to throw stones at the pareut. But neither the objections of tbe son or the stoue he threw preveuted the father, fiom leveling bis gun and shooting tbe dog. whi h having done he walked home. The son did not proceed to retaliate immediately, but nursed his wrath till last Sunday a week, when be took his revolver aud a box of matches and walked to his father's house. For tunately he bad gone to a neighbor's bouse, and William found himself the undisputed occupant of the property He forthwith proceeded to demolish the contents of the house. That done as far as he desired, he fired a lot of clothing in a room on the middle of the floor, aud tl.en diiected his steps to the stable, to which he also applied ,the match,- and then left for a neighbor's house, where he informed them whet he had done There being no one at bom-; but a young wo nau, she resolutely declared her in tention of going and putting out the fire if possible, but William thieatened to hoot her if she attempted to go on 6uch an errand. He soon took his departure. when the girl ran over to the burning buildings. The pile of clothing in the room was all consumed, but the fire had made bnt little progress on the floor aud she with little difficulty put it out. The stable was in a perfect sheet of flames when die reached tlie place. A dozen f men eould not have saved it: Wil liam searched among the neighbors a while to find his father to shoot him, but fortunately did not find him. That night he fled the valley. It is earnestly hoped that he will be arrested aud the .-o;' n st penalties of the law visited on biin for bis outrageous and baibarous conduct.
