Ton are hereby ordered to parade at Perrys vi'.le on Thursday, October 10 1872. at 10 o'clock A. M.. in full uniform for iu- peetion. Sabres on hand for those not armed Saddle cloths at SI apiece. By order of J. K. KOB1SON. Captain Commanding Matthew Rogers, O S. Meeting: of the Mifflin Grant Club. No beating of drums or blowing of horns summoned the large crowd of peo ple to the Court Houne on Saturday even ing last, but pursuant to the announce ment of President, the presence of so many of the Liyal Republicans of this community went to make the first meet ing of the Giant Club of Mifflintowu a decided success. The orator of the evening. A. J. Cul bertsonEsq., of Lewistown, fortunately failed to disappoint his audience, and spoke for almost an hour. Tbe speaker reviewed the record of tbe Democratic party from 1S50 to the day of its disso lution and death at Baltimore ; told us of the support it gave Breckinridge, the man who favored and dij his utmo. t to sits tain slavery ; he spoke of that beinou Democratic amendment of Vallandii; bam, that rock which split the political ship and led the Democracy of the South to rise up iu aim against this Union of our fatheis, nud how the Republican champions guided the bark freighted with the hopes and loves ot the loyal of man kind through (Linger and dai knees and national tribulation The speaker farther LiJ down three principal points of diffeicnce in the plat forms ot the caudid ilcs iu the preeeut campaign : 1. The Pb'lalelpbia or Crant platform declares in favor of the re election of any man fir President who lias shown him self diligent and uncompromising In duly, and in every way attentive to the inter ests of the people. This declaration the experimenting party of Cincinnati and Baltimore rejects. 2. The Grant administration says home interests shall be protected The would-be Greeley power on the other hand in nfrriog the question to the respective Congressional districts, par- alyzea the arm of the President, and wrests fiom him his riht of veto and ilj- ctioti. Then will tha comm idities of Lnglaud come in direct competition with tbe productions of American producers. w ho are obliged t pay na'.ion il, State and local taxes, and you, in favoring this plalik, do necessarily grant privileges to foreigners which mut be withheld from and denitd to yourselves. 3. Tbe Republican party favors the erf ricemeut of the Kuklux Bill (that bulwatk of individual security and na tional peace) when the necessities of time ; anil place make such a demand. This the coalition crowd under the false cry ot oppression on the one hand and refoim on the other, refuse t sincliou; and it! they would be consistent with most ol th- ir acts and professions, they mn.-t and will continue to oppose all measures j savoring of justice, humanity and patri otism It has been twelve years since all the States voted together years of bloodshed an i trial years of pr celess j value to tbe An.eiicau I'l.iou j and years the results of which are to be guarded! and m t-t carefully cherished. And as we look abroad and around and see thou sands of the old D-mocratie party who have detei mined no longer to he ruled by it, wo ate safo to conclude that no dis lo:.S party cn;t ever a'ain cmlrol the country. Toe giulvm iu cl sed by al ludiu'to o;r victories in Maine, Vcr ip.Mit and North Ciroliua, assuring his hearers that Pennsylvania and Indiana will take up the cty and answer over whelmingly for Graft. The enthusias tic applause mid which the gentleiuau retiredjyas the strongest testimony to the Quality of his speech aud the man tier i:i which it had been received. Jr. Lyons next addressed the meet ing lie referred to the fact that the Democrats were loud in their denuncia tions of the State and National Admin istrations, but thought if they were the honest set of men that they declared themselves to be, they would begin at home, and practice the doctrine they pre tend to teach. He stated that he be lieved that in every townehip in Juoiata couuty where the JVmncrats have a ma jority 1ip people are more heavily taxed than in those townships where the Re publicans have a majority, and the same might be said of every county in the Slate and every State in the Uuion That w herever the Democratic party was in power the people ' were pluudered He thought reform oubt to begin at home, and adverted to the unlawful and unwarranted expenditure of the people's money in Juniata connty ; tiiat one fifth' of the tares annually collected from the people were expended to keep up the ring and its dependents ; that the allow ance to the County Treasurer and the Clerk to the County Commissioners was too high ; that the contracts for repairs to eountv bridges were let out to political favorites nt enormous rates ; aud that last but not least, tbe county printing was an outrage and a complete swindle and robbery of tbe people though at tempted to be done under authority of an act of the Legislature, the passage of which was procured by the Boss of the Ring in the Senate, in tbe interest of his brother-in law. Wm. M. Allison followed in a short earnest speech iu behalf of the Republican cause. Tbe interest manifested throughout tbe meeting betrayed a determination on the part of tbe people to reward honest rulers to contiuuj good and pure govern ment. Fair. The Juniata County Agricul tural Society will hold their annual Fair on October 9th, 10th and 1 lib, 1872. G. M. Graham, Cor Stct'jf. Gcss, Pistols. Shot, Game Bags, Shot Pouches, Gun Locks, &c, at Paiste'a Hardware Store. The Register has been loud in its (leimiichUion of extravagance and unfair work on. side of the county, but when men here at home denounce extrav agance and unfair and unmanly work, instead of being consistent by not opposing their efforts at reform. It raises i - - a nitler denunci atory cry against them. It suits that paper to advocate reform outside of the count', every where but iu Ju niata.
