Great JSxcitement in Lycoming County -The Williamsport Gazette and Bullelim says : The people of Muncy Creek township, and surround ing country, are in a great state of ex citement over the appearance of mad dogs in their midst. Cattle, sheep, and hogs have been bitten, and animals are running mad daily. The small pox ex citement was itt subsiding, when this new agitation sprung upon them, and, as a natural consequence, the fears of the people are doubly increased. A gentle , mgn from the infested region informs us ' that the dogs are being rapidly killed off. i but to ascertain bow many animals have been bitten is out of the question. Mr, Haines, of Muncy townebip, killed five sheep on Friday evening last, and four on Saturday, all of which had been bit ten. - The- township auditors appraised them previous to the killing. . In the neighborhood of Mr. Haines', two bogs died that had been bitten, suffering the m 'St extreme rage incident to the disease The bogs throughout that section are.be ing penned, and occasionally one or more becomes rabid, and a battle ensues be tween them all. This of course necessi tates the slaughter of the entire number, as in such a case all are generally bitten. Mr Levis P.
