Yesterday uiornhig. about four j o'clock, we were aroused by an alarm of j fite. which proved, to be at Glamorgan j Furnace. When we reached it all hope of raving the burning buildings was ahaudonded The stockhouse in the rear, covet ing the engines, hot blasts aud other machinery is entirely destroyed, as well as the structure at the tunnel bead, whence the cars conveying fuel and stock are carried to feed the stack. Then are contradictory accounts as to the orgin of the fire, the most probable of which would seem to be thai a sudden sinking of the fuel aud stock in the head of the stack forced out a huge volume tf fl tme from which the building adj. lining the suck ignited, aud before water could be had or other measures employed to arrest it, progrevfed so far as to fire the stock house. The Henderson, with their ap paratus, wsSl as promptly on hand as it was possible at that early hour, but were unall : to render much service in resco ing the buildings on account of the freez ing of the water plugs How far the engines aud other apparatus and ma chinery is injured, what delay may he caused iu resuming operations, or what extent the loss is covered by insurance, we are unable to ascertain.
