A Barn Burned, The Carlisle Vol unteer says : On Sunday last, about noon, the splendid barn of William M. Watts, Esq , in Upper Allen township, was entirely consumed by fire, together with all its contents. The fire is suppos ed to have originated in the threshing ma chine, aud when it was first discovered on the floor beneath the machine, was about the size of a half bushel measure One of the workmen called for a bag to smother it, and doubtless could have done so ; but no bag was at hand, and in another moment, a blast of wind swept through the barn door, and the heap of straw at the end of the separa tor was in flames. Then all the hope of saving the building was abandomed. The men had barely time te save them selves. A wagon, partially loaded with grain, in the barn floor, was in flames before it could be removed. All the live atock was saved, but all the other con tents of the barn were consumed, con sisting of 600 bushels of barley, 1,000 bushels of corn, a mow of bay, and a large quantity of wheat, threshed and nnthreshed. Quite a number of smaller buildings adjoining the barn, were saved. This was a new frame barn, three stories high, and was one of the best structures of the kind in the county. Mr. Watt's loss will be heavy, but we presume it is at least partially covered by insurance. This is a third fire, from a similar cause, which has occurred in this county within the last three or four years. Wanted A steady industrious young man to learn the Chair-making trade.
