Tbis is a work of very peculiar inter est, affording to every one that full tnd satisfactory knowledge of the Holy Bible which (practically) would not be found in any other Work now before the reli gious world. Dr. Hitchcock has in this work so carefully selected all passages of Scripture treating upon any point of Holy Writ that no one need be at a loss to have that perfect knowledge of the truth as it is, the whole Bible, from Genesis to Rev elation, being carefully analysed and ar ranged in logical order, so that every text treating upon any subject is placed directly before you.. Bciug thoroughly indexed, you can opn at once to the de sired subject. This work contains also Crudcu's Concordance complete, Pro nouncing and Interpreting Dictionaries, a Dictionary of all Religious Deuomina tions, History of the Bible, Maps, En graving. See., making it a work indis pensable to those w ho would learn more perfectly the way of life. Good and re liable agents will shortly wait ou the citizens of Juniata county, and give them an opportunity to examine and judge of the merits of the work. We append the following testimonials : I have examined Hitchcock's Analysis of tbe Bible, and consider it a most valuable aid in the muJy of tbe Sa-iptures joas thrush. Pastor M. E. Church, Lewisiown, Pa. In I be above I fully concur. O. O. McCLEAN, Pastor Presbyterian C'.iurch, LewUiown, Pa. I have examined Hitchcock's Analysis of the Bible, and consider it a most valuable aid in the. study of the Holy Scriptures A copy of the work should be in every Chris liar, family. J. II. BROWN. Pastor Lutheran Church, Lewisiown, Pa. Having examined Ir. Hitclicick's Analysis of lhe Dihle. presented by E. W. Smith. I am fre5 to pronounce it a real christian gem. and do most heartily recommend itto all who would learn more perfectly the wav of life. 1. J. KERR, Pastor Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, Pa. I should rejoice to see a copy of this very valuable work (Hitchcock's Analysis of the Bible) in every family of oiv congregation. JOHN' Mc Ml LI. EN, , Pastor Presbyterian Church, Ml. Pleasant, Pa, So far as I have examined this Analysis I consider it very useful MATHEW AI.I.ISON, Pastor Presbyterian Church, Mitniniowu, Pa. So far as I have examined this work I es teem it good, and recoinmend it. II. M. HLACKWKLDF.lt. Pastor Lutberau Church, Mifiltntuwn, Ta Having purchased Hitchcock's Analysis ol the Bible soti.e two years stnee. and iiiad constant use of it as a guide book, I can hearti'y commend the same as being in every particular a most liiorough. comprehensive, and satisfactory work. To the religious anil thoughtful public it appeals a an exiraordi nary means for the more perfect study ot God's revealed will. We could wish a latg circulation in our community II. C. PARDOE. Pastor M. E. Church, Mifliiuiown, Pa. 6ept2;-3w Modestv is tiot one of the character istics of the R'gtsl r, neither is that jour nal close-mouthed in regard to other peo pie's affairs, as all in this community know. It is noted for its personalities Like mot of gossips, it hides its own unfair works as much as possible, and coiiiiuually talks about what its neigh bors ate doing. It is always full of in sinuation against this or that individual ; and if at any time it has a sure founda tion for it charge?, it does not fail to uatne the person right out. This is a very good test to apply to the Uejht'-r. If it fails, wheu it makes charges against a party to point out the individual, the charges can be set down as mere fabrica tions. For instance, last week that paper said that fii'ieeu hundred dollars had been received in this county by liepuhlicans for elect ioueering purposes, but it did not sny who got the money, and that very omission is strong evidence that its de claration is not true. If the Ri-jistir knew of a Kep'ibiicati who had received fifteen bundled dollars to use for elec tioneering purposes, it would announce the name in huge type. Nfcw and Danukrui's Greenback. retert nt Dcterlor says : Wiihin a week past a number of ex ceedingly dangerous counterfeits have made their appearance. How large the number rany be cannot be known, for the counterfeit is so nearly faultless that it is with the utmost difficulty that it can be distinguished from the genuine. The spurious bill is a twenty dollar green back. The only weak point in the exe cutiou seims to be tbe central figme which is a little too coarsely done W hen presented in a package, however, this figure is not seen iu the rapid count ing, it being hidden by the hand or the over lying bills. The other points of the bill are so excellent as to stand the test of the strongest light. We are told that two or three banks have been deceived by the bills. There has not been a more dangerous counterfeit put ailoat Busi tiess men, bank tellers, railroad ticket agents, and others would do well to keep a eharp lookout for these bills. The Shippensburg News gives the fol lowng forcible hint to a certain class ot voung men : "Six young gentlemen standing on the corner of the street six pair of hands in tiieir pants' pockets six mouths squirting tobacco juice in every direc tion ; six pair of eyes looking impudent ly at every woman and girl passing by. and just six tongues surpassing each other in indecent remarks." Bask ball is undoubtedly good exer cise and capital amusement, but it often occasions bunged eyes, broken skins and blistered hands. We can tell you that in all such cases, if Johnot Aodt)ne Liniment is resorted to, it will reduce the swelling and etop the pain. . Wk would not recommend the fre quent or constant nse of any medicine. It is important to take eveu a good ar tide judiciously. Partun' Purgative Pill are safe, prompt and reliable as a laxative or cathartic. After that date my books will be in, the hands of J. C. Doty, Esq , for collection. I shall be absent until about the 1st ol March. 1872. Thomas A. Elder, M. D. Sept. 13-2t. G0LDEH FOTJNTAIlf PEN.
