At the time of the discovery of the fire, it had progressed no far that a hole in the floor large enough to admit the passage of the body of a mai, was burned. It is believed that the fire started from a spark from the furnace falling on the floor while Mr. Wise wan at supper Serious The wry faeea and gags of tne Uemocraey of these parts, when the resolution of the late Democratic Con ventwn. relative to the currenty and the fifteenth amendment, itn presented. The lad with some effort pulled it off, when it again bit him on the arm. 'i hey together finally suc ceeded in kilf.ig the snake, and dragged it to town, when their adventure was re lated with ntiuh jitide, and the slimy reptile exhibited a au evideuce of their prowess.
