It is quite possible that the study of the following weather table may be of much benefit to farmers and others, if they on ly follow the admonitions. It was con structed by the celebrated Dr., Hershell, upon a philosophic consideration of the attraction of the sun aud moon. It is confirmed by the experience of many years observation, and wilt suggest to the observer, what kind of weather will probably follow the moon's entrance into any of ber quarters. As a general rule it will be found wonderfully correct : If the moon changes at 12 o'clock noon, the weather immediately afterward will be very rainy, if in summer, and there will be snow or rain, if in Winter. If between 3 and 4 o'clock, p. m changeable in summer fair and mild in winter. f Between 4 and 5 o'clock, fair, both in winter aud summer. Between 9 and 10 o'clock, p. m., in summer, fair, if the wind is northwest ; rainy, south or southwest. In winter, fair, aud frosty, if the wind is from the south or southwest. Between 10 and 12 o'clock, p. m., rainy, and fair and frosty in wiuter. Between 12 at night and 2 o'clock, a. ra , fair iu summer aud frosty in winter unless the wind i3 from the south or southeast Between 2 and 4 o'clock, a. m., cold and very eliotvcry in summer, and snow and ttonn iu wiuter. WALT HAM WAT CUES. . The extensive use of these watches for the last fifteen years by Railway Conductors, Engineers and Expressman, the most exact ing of watch-wearers, has' thoroughly de monostrated the strength, steadiness, dura bility and accuracy of tbe Waliham Watch. To satisfy that class in all these respects, is to decide the question as to the real value of these time-keepers. More than 500,000 of these watches are now speaking for themselves in the pockets of the people a proof and a guarantee of their superiority over all others. The superior organization and great extent of the Company's Works at Wall ham, enables them to produce watches at a price wljich renders competition futile and those who buy any other watch merely pay from 25 to 50 per cent, more for their watches than is necessary. These time-pieces combine every improve ment that a long experience has proved of real practical use. Having had the refusal of nearly every invention in watch-making originating in this country or in Europe, only those were finally adopted which severe testing by the most skilful artisans in our work?, and long use on tbe part of the public, demonstrated to be essential to correct aud enduring time keeping. Among tbe many improvements wc would particularize : The invention and use of a centre pinion I of peculiar construction, to prevent damage j to the train by the breakage of main-springs, i is original with the American Watch Cjm-; pany, who, having had the refusal of all oth er contrivances, adspted Fogg's pa'eut pin ion as beiug the best and faultless. Hardened and tempered hair-springs, now rniversally admitted by Watchmakers to be the best, are used in all grades of Wal:ham Watches. All Waltham WatchCT have dut-proof; caps, protecting the movement from dust. and lessening the necessity of the frequent cleaning necessary in other watch?!!. Our new patent stem-winder, or keyless watch is already a decided success, and a great improvement on any stem-winding wateh in the American market, and by far the cheapest watch of its quality now otferen to the public. To those living iu portions of the United States where watchmakers do not abound, watches with the above mention ed improvements which tend to ensure ac curacy, cleanliness, durability and conveni ence, must prove invaluable.
