The Kidneys are two in number, sitnated at the upper part of the loin, surrounded by fat. and consisting of three parts, viz: the Anterior, the Interior, and the Exterior. The anteiinr absorbs. In'erior consists of tissues or veins, which serve as a deposit for the arine and convey it to the exterior. The exterior is a conductor also, terminating in a single tub, and cilled the Ureter. The urelers are connected with the bladder. The bladder is composed of various cover ings or tissues, divided into parts, viz: the Upper, tbe Lower, the Nervous, and the Mu cous. The upper expels, the lower retains. Many Lave a desire to urinate without tbe ability ; others urinato without the ability to retain. This frequently occurs in chil dren. To cure these affections, we must bring into action the muscles, which are engaged in their various functions. If they are ne glected. Gravel or Dropsy may ettsiie. The reader must also be made aware, that however slight may be the attack, it is sure to affect tbe bodily health and mental pow ers, as our flesh and blood are cupp.rted from these scurces. GOUT, Oil RHEUMATISM. Pain occurring in the loins is indicative of the above diseases. Tbey occur to per sons disposed to acid stomach and chalky concretions. THE GRAVEL. The gravel ensues from neglect of impro per treatment of the kidneys. These organs being weak, the water is not expelled from tbe bladder but allowed to remain, it be comes feverish, and sediment forms. It is from this deposit that tbe stone is formed, and gravel ensues. DROPS r. Dropsy is a collection of water in some parts of the body, and bears different names, according to the parts affctted, viz: when generally diffused over the body, it is called Anasarce, when of the abdomen, Ascites ; when of tbe chest, Hydrothorax. TREATMENT. ITslmbold's highly concentrated compound Extract .Buchu is decided'y one of the beet remedies for diseases of Ihc bladder, kidneys, gravel, dropsical swellings rheumntism, and gouty affections. Under this head we have arranged Dysurin, or difficulty and pain in passing water. Scanty Secretion, or small and frequent discharge of water; Strangury, or stopping of water ; Hematuria, or bloody urine; Gout and P.heumalism of tha kid neys, without anychange in quaniily, but in crease in color, or dark water. It was al ways highly recommended by the Lite Dr. Physick, in these affection. This medicine increases the power of di gestion, and excites the absorbents into healthy esercise ny which the wstery or calcareous depositions, and all unnatural enlargement, as well as pain and infl amma tion, are reduced ar.d it is taken by men wo men and shildren. Directions for use and diet accompany. PiiilaT'Elpuia, Ta.. Seb. 1S07. n. T. IIei.wbold, Druggist : Dear Sib. I have been suffering, for up wards of twenty years, with gravel, bladder and kidney aflection, during which time I Lave used various medical preparations, nud been under tbe treatment of the mo.t eminent Physicians, experiencing but little relief. Having seen your preparation extensively advertised, I consulted with my family physician in regard to usinjj your Extract Buchu. I did this because I had used all kinds of advertised remedies, and bad found them worthies, and some quite injurion. in fact I despaired of ever getting well, and determ ined to use no remedies hereafter unless I knew of the ingredients It was this that prompred me fo use your remedy. Asyou a iverusea tnat it was composed of buchu, cubebs. and juniper berries, it occurred to me nnd my physician as an excellent com bination, and, with bis advice, after an exam ination of the article, and consulting again with the druggist, I concluded to try it. I commenced its use about eight months ago, at which time I was confined to my room. From the first bottle I was astoniahed and gratified at the tencficial effect, and after using it three weeks, was able to walk out. 1 felt much like writing you a full statement of my case at the tin: e, but thought my im provement might only be temporary, and therefore concluded to defer and see if it would effect a perfect cure knowing then it would be of greater value to you, and more satisfactory to me. I am now able to report that a cure is ef fected after using the remedy for five months. I have not used any now for three months. and feel as well in all respects as I ever did. Your Buchu being devoid of any un pleasant taste aad odor, a nice tonic and in vigorator of the system, I do not mean to be without it whenever occasion may require its use in sucn ascctions. m. m. A dressing -which Is at once agreeable, healthy, and effectual for preserving the hair. Faded or gray hair is soon restored to its original color with the gloss and freshness of youth. Thin hair is. thick ened, faRing hair checked, and bald ness often, though not always, cured by its use. Nothing can restore the hair where the foUicles are destroyed, or the glands atrophied and decayed. But such as remain can be saved for usefulness by this application. Instead of fouling the hair with a pasty sedi ment, it will keep it clean and vigorous. Its occasional use will prevent the hair from turning gray or falling off, and consequently prevent baldness. Free from those deleterious substances which make some preparations dangerous and injurious to the hair, the Vigor can oiily benefit but not harm it. If wanted merely for a HAIR DRESSING, nothing else can be found so desirable. Containing neither oil nor dye, it does not soil white cambric, and yet lasts long ou the hair, giving it a rich glossy lustre and a grateful perfume. Prepared by Dr. J. C.
