a local freight train, named Dysinger,
a resident of Mill Creek, one day last
week fell through a culvert at Mexico
Station, a distance of fifteen feet, sus
taining severe injury of the left leg and
" foot, and also receiving seveaal deep cuts
on the fore part of the head.

A Chickev Hawk in passing over
E. A. Steininger's . farm, in Franklin
township, yesterday, dropped a duck
which he was attempting to carry off.
Some men seeing the duck fall caught
it and fastened it on a spring trap, and
then retired. In a short time the hawk
made a dive for ita fallen booty and was
caugh by the trap. It measured 4 feet
6 inches between the tips of its wings.

peaches, sweet biscuit, syrup, &c , and
was served at 2 P. M.

cial Distr'ct, composed of the counties of
Juniata, Perry aud Cumberland, and the
Hons. Thomas 1. Milmkex and Samlel
Watts, Judges of the Court of Common Pleas
of Juniata county, have issued tbeir precept
to me directed, bearing date the '.'lb day of
Sept., Si', for holding a Court of Oyer
aud Terminer aud General Jail Delivery, and
General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, at
Mitllintown, on the first Mo.Nn.tY of Decem
ber, 1870, being theflih day of the mouth:
KOTICE IS HEKEUY GIVEN to the Coro
ner. Justices of the Peace and Constables of
ths county of Juniata, that they be then mid
there in tbeir proper persons, at 1 o'clonk in
the afiernxon oi suid day, with records, in
quisitions, examinations and other remem
brauces, to do those things that to their offi
ces respectively appertain, and those that are
bound by recognizance to prosecute against
tbe prisoners that are or then may be ia the
Jail of said cour.ty of Juniata, be then and
there to prosecute against them cs shall be
just.
By an Act of Assembly, passed the ftd day
of May, A. D. 1854. it is nmde the duty of
the Justices of the Peace cf the sevml coun
ties of this Commonwealth to return lo the
Clerk of the Ccurt of Quarter Sessions of the
Peace, of tbe respective counties, all the re
cognizances entered into before them by any
person or persons charged with the com in is
sion of any crime, except sucb cases as may
be ended before a Justice of the Peace, under
the existing laws, at least ten days before the
commencement of the session of the Court to
which they are made n'urnable respectively,
and in all cases where any recognizances are
entered into less (ban ten days before the
commencement of the session to which they
are made returnable, the taii Justices ire re
quired to return the same in the same manner
as if said act bad not been passed.

in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy.
